Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on. Keep on-topic

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

This is what you voted for protest-non-voters.

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca 51 points 1 week ago (2 children)

What’s interesting about them, and by interesting, I mean batshit stupid, is that they’ll be happy to take the credit in discussions about how non-voting sends a message to the establishment parties, but they become instant victims the moment the conversation becomes about how they helped trump to the throne.

And here’s where it gets funny:

All the credit; none of the blame. Who does that remind you of?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Nailed the vibe so perfectly.

I wish I could up-vote you about 1000x. 😮‍💨👌

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca 7 points 1 week ago (9 children)

It’s no end of insanity to see this shit every day. And the fact that they think no one notices this is just embarrassing for them.

CEOs and other corporate heads. "Privatize the gains, socialize the losses."

Nuh uh! They are moral angels, you monster!! /s

[–] Dogiedog64@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

The most moral Voters™️ in the world, they wouldn't hurt a fly!

Unless it was on the ballot, of course.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I've heard that the Purity Ponies are much like Kim Jong-un - they are so perfect, they don't even need to relieve themselves!

Such magical beings. We could all aspire to be like them.

America isn't this way because of Trump. Trump is this way because of America.

Trump isn't the hero America needs, but he's the one America deserves. It's just a shame the rest of the world has to suffer because of American ignorance, entitlement and apathy.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)

Then why are the grand majority disapproving of him? His latest polls show 31-33% approval.

You people know nothing of what's going on here. You just espouse subjective rhetoric that Trump himself and the GOP loves to read.

What could be better than natural allies across borders unifying? Division is Trump's goal, and we can all see that clear as day. You're an accomplice to these evil people if your here to create the same results, perhaps even a "useful idiot".

Rethink your actions and words, lest you be exactly what I suspect you to be: a blatent propagandist targeting the western world.

[–] nforminvasion@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Fascism is imperialism turned inwards. All this shit we've been doing to other countries (and foreign policy is consistently bipartisan) is now coming back to us.

It doesn't matter if the majority disapprove, Trump doesn't represent the things done in the US' brightest moments, he is the culminatiom and the product of the shadows. The nepobaby of a filthy rich, white supremacist mega-landlord in NY, shaped by reality TV that glamorized the most antisocial parts of human behavior, the product of no consequences for rich people despite fucking over THOUSANDS of contactors, employees, and businesses. I could go on about Epstein, Daniels, etc.

Are you surprised this empire doesn't show off its dark underbelly proudly?

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 week ago

So what are the 67% - 69% actually doing about it? Waiting for the fascists to run a fair election and honor the results?

Yup.

Not voting is condoning whatever happens, good or bad. If you stayed home, you rubberstamped all of what's happening.

[–] DupaCycki@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago (5 children)

This is what you're achieving by braindead infighting.

They spent decades and trillions of dollars on making sure Americans can't unite. Looks like the investment paid off.

[–] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

While I agree with the sentiment, protest non-voting is already tantamount to infighting. This comment is just pointing fingers to set blame on another, which is stupid. But at the same time, calling for protest non-voters to unify with the rest of us should be the goal. That is the opposite of infighting. That's not exactly what OP was doing, but that is the remedy.

[–] DupaCycki@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

That's not exactly what OP was doing, but that is the remedy.

No. They were pointing fingers at, shaming the other side, and/or blaming it for the problems.

There's nothing whatsoever about unity in that message, and that's the problem.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (5 children)

Me: vote.

You: stop telling people to vote! (Or whatever that was.)

Unreal.

[–] edible_funk@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's not infighting, neo-liberals are conservatives, they're not the left as they're portrayed to be in news and media. The gulf of ideology between a leftist and neo-liberal is huge.

Sadly I think this doesn’t bother non-voters one little bit.

[–] heartSagan5@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Of course not. They're rebels using apathy, and they're comfortable because there are no consequences. "You can't pin that on me, I didn't vote."
