Community Rules

You must post before you leave

Be nice. Assume others have good intent (within reason).

Block or ignore posts, comments, and users that irritate you in some way rather than engaging. Report if they are actually breaking community rules.

Use content warnings and/or mark as NSFW when appropriate. Most posts with content warnings likely need to be marked NSFW.

Most 196 posts are memes, shitposts, cute images, or even just recent things that happened, etc. There is no real theme, but try to avoid posts that are very inflammatory, offensive, very low quality, or very "off topic".

Bigotry is not allowed, this includes (but is not limited to): Homophobia, Transphobia, Racism, Sexism, Abelism, Classism, or discrimination based on things like Ethnicity, Nationality, Language, or Religion.

Avoid shilling for corporations, posting advertisements, or promoting exploitation of workers.

Proselytization, support, or defense of authoritarianism is not welcome. This includes but is not limited to: imperialism, nationalism, genocide denial, ethnic or racial supremacy, fascism, Nazism, Marxism-Leninism, Maoism, etc.

Avoid AI generated content.

Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

I don't think that addresses the question. At least not the question that led me to go "huh?" when I saw this.

Which is that...yeah, the US is going to be murdering a dude on livestream. But what has that got to do with "content mods" who now "have to host" a video?

[–] Fredselfish@sh.itjust.works 22 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Where you think this going be live stream from? Broadcast Tv? No this will be on Twitch, YouTube etc. Hence the words live streamed.

[–] john_tech@lemmy.zip 36 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I'm sorry, the US government is live streaming a guy's execution ON TWITCH?? This feels like a Florida man headline

[–] GalacticSushi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 33 points 1 week ago

It turns out when you elect Florida man as the president you get a lot of Florida man headlines from the executive branch.

[–] Blibly@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago

Well yeah we literally have a florida man as president now so...

[–] Zagorath@aussie.zone 21 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Nothing I have seen has said anyone will be "forced" to host it. They'll find some platform that is specifically willing to promote fascism.

[–] GalacticSushi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 28 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They'll find some platform that is specifically willing to promote fascism.

So almost every major social media platform and probably a handful of streaming platforms?

[–] Zagorath@aussie.zone 0 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Sure, maybe. Still doesn't change the fact that nobody has yet presented (or even attempted to present) an explanation for the bizarre description in the post.

[–] GalacticSushi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

It's not that bizarre, you're just splitting hairs over the precise wording of a meme you've decided to take way too seriously.

[–] Zagorath@aussie.zone 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Huh? The fact that people are supposedly going to be "forced" to show this is the entire point of the meme. Like, there's no other content in the meme. If that's wrong, we're left with nothing.

[–] Susaga@sh.itjust.works 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I will remind you that content mods are employees, not the company. They have no choice in what the platform hosts.

Also, stop putting "forced" in quotes. You're not quoting anyone.

[–] EisFrei@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

With this adminstration the "or else" is implied.

So they either accept that they have to host Hegseth's murder porn, or else the orange man will find a way to make them suffer.

[–] Susaga@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yes, because Google and Amazon are such staunch opponents of fascism that they'll need to be forced.

[–] CIA_chatbot@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They are probably already shopping advertising deals for it

[–] Susaga@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This state-sanctioned murder was brought to you by BetterHelp.

[–] HerbalGamer@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Pretty sure they could just stream a webcam to the white house website without a video sharing platform needing to be involved.

[–] Fredselfish@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

Yeah but they aren't going want to do that way. They either want the major network to do it streaming services. We don't even know weather they are going want to charge for it yet.

[–] late_pessimistic@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 week ago

They can't go with white house website because that requires to build up a lot of infrastructure and expertise they don't have in very short period of time for just one (hopefully) occasion.

[–] unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de -3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)

Thats just nonsense, what idiots are upvoting this. Its either not gonna happen at all or will be on some shit like truth social that is directly under trumps control.

[–] SkyeStarfall@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

No yeah, this is nonsense. Just as nonsense as the last nonsense thing.. that happened. And the one before that. And the one before that. And the one before that. And the one before that. And the..

Like at some point you have to realize there is no depth to which the world won't sink

Look back at the last 10 years

If you told someone from 10 years ago how the world looked like now, would they believe you? Or call it nonsense and call you and idiot for believing it?

Edit: accidentally triple posted

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world -5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

It's also not an assassination. This is the dumbest meme I've seen today.

[–] starman2112@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago

Politically motivated murder, close enough
