I've got a suspicion that this is one of those "say something intentionally stupid so that everyone jumps on the train to correct you and create engagement".

Next up: post a math problem with no right answers and watch the post get a million comments (where only 10% notice the lack of a right answer)

It's Cunningham's Law in action.

I couldn't find your reference on google, could you explain what that is and how it relates or corrects my comment of Cunningham's Law?

[–] MrScottyTay@sh.itjust.works 2 points 14 hours ago

It was an amalgamation of sod's law and occam's razor, to be purposefully wrong

Or someone says something evocative of their meaning but not fully fact-checked and cited because they aren’t a clanker.

[–] kamen@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

There's not all that much fact checking about something like that. It's not like they claimed something and got one small detail wrong. It's just a blanket statement that is unsubstantiated. Assuming they have common knowledge of the industry they're in, it takes just one game that is not coin-operated and has some save functionality to make the original statement invalid.

That's how everything in the internet works nowadays. I just can't do it. Everyone (mostly bots I suspect) seem to want to get pissed off or feel themselves like correct or interesting.

[–] kamen@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I try to "vote with my wallet" on these things whenever I can.

You can’t just call people on the spectrum bots :P
