damn it as a long time i3wm enjoyer I'm watching the demo videos and I am not hating what I am seeing. too much wasted space and visual faff for my taste but keyboard-driven and tiling are both things that more computer operating environments should be

I don't know why they need so much funding or where all this supposed agent dev time went though

There are plenty of TWMs out there, you can find dozens of spins that have similar functionality that are maintained by like one 18 year old furry kid on a budget of $15

Fedora also has an i3 spin if you want to try something atomic.

Yeah it's mystifying that this should be so expensive to develop. It's all nicely integrated but what have they really built? A pretty good menu tool, some themes, and some redundant package distribution infrastructure.

I run my laptop without a GUI at all, just live in tmux. I've even vibed up a bunch of TUI utilities to make my browserless life easier. Ran i3 for years before that. Didn't occur to me that I should ask for donations.

The i3 spin is not atomic, you have to get Sway Atomic for that.
