3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. 5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.

Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.

What you do should fall natural to you.
You talk with other people friends family and coworkers.
And you meet with those that agree that Trump has to be stopped, and put your heads together on what you can do.
And you reach out to other groups that do the same.
All this can be done perfectly legal without risk in USA, because USA has not fallen so far yet to prevent that.
Then all the groups that are near each other communicate with each other, until you have grassroots on the state level, and the state level communicat4e on the federal level.
You call out on social media for people to do this, and a grassroots movement can be created very quickly if the interest is there.
I am not American, so it is not really my place to meddle in local American politics, USA is a democracy, and movements like this can be created absolutely unhindered.
Your defeatist attitude is what is preventing it, and apparently all of USA is suffering from it.
Bullshit. Pure and simple Bullshit. This puts you in the coward category unless you break free of that.
This is literally already happening you moron. What do you think DSA is?
https://dsa.dk/
I know DSA perfectly well, I just don't think it means the same here.
Maybe be more precise? Throw a link if they are developed enough to have a homepage.
Maybe even throw in a few words on why you find it relevant to mention them.
But that's probably too much effort, just like it's too much effort for the average American to do anything to stop Trump.
You must be oblivious if you think this isn't already happening. The us left wing is more organized than any time since the robber barons. Why do you think the right is fear mongering and getting more aggressive every day. Unions are on the rise, community signal chats, parallel system, all happening. None of that is a magic wand. People are still holding their breath, because if the left makes the first move, the fascists will certainly use it as an excuse to end elections. What you are drooling for is violence, which will only make things worse.
He asked, and that is what is needed.
Easy to armchair quarterback from the internet lol. I bet you'd take care of fascism all by yourself if it was in your county :D
In my country we have actually had pretty big protests against USA within the past year on more than one occasion, despite our government is doing a very good job at handling the situation.
But yes if necessary I will defend our democracy.
Not a uniquely American problem:
https://blogs.cornell.edu/issues/newsletter/right-wing-extremism-on-the-rise-globally/
Might make more sense for people across the globe to support each other against right-wing extremism rather than tear each other down and point fingers.
But you do you, I guess…
Yeah this is what we should be doing. The far right is coordinated all across the globe. They use the same general talking points and tactics everywhere, and that's a major reason why they're beating us.
People like buffalox only give a shit about their ego.
Oh you went to a protest against a foreign nation! Wow! What courage! Your country is undoubtedly doing something shitty, even if just being complicit. I don't remember any countries declaring sanctions against the US. You're comfortable in it being "good enough" because actually taking on a national government is dangerous. When faced with potential life in prison or execution by government agents and you step up to the line, then you can really tell us what you would do. It's easy to say you'd give your life to a cause from a keyboard.
Nope, but the people do.
People around the world are fed up with USA, all polls show the same, people hate USA and we don't trust you. Among most former allies, China is now more trusted than USA.
And this is not the government alone, it is trust in the American people and democracy that has been lost.
Don't for one second think that it is only Trump and MAGA that is the problem. It is your friends, your neighbors, you coworkers and yourself.
Ok, so if the US is that bad and your government isn't cutting off trade and sanctioning it. Why aren't you making them? Are they treating immigrants with the dignity and respect they deserve? Are they serving the people rather than the elite?
Your government probably hasn't even killed any protesters, so changing these things should be easier than fighting against a police state. The people are responsible for their government and I don't know any utopias.
That's EXACTLY what they do.
Literally none of them do. You don't live in a representative utopia, you just don't want to have to do the things you tell other people to do.
You are delusional if you think no democratic government is working for the people.
You are also delusional if you think that in societies of millions of people, a government can make everybody happy.
Then you may say we should make smaller societies.
But even in families of 4, you can't always make everybody happy, because sometimes even a few people don't always agree.
You may have some idea of some Utopia. But it's an illusion that can never happen.
We constantly work to make things better, not to ruin everything, because some crazed guy has a deeply flawed clearly unproven idea.
And yes I write that with a very high degree of certainty, because I've seen so many, and they always turn out to be nothing like what they claim, and clearly don't even work in theory, and the people claiming it in fact are extremely ignorant about reality of keeping a society of many people well functioning.
As to your comment about John Taylor Gatto, he was a New York Educator who among other awards won New York State Teacher of the Year. He wrote several books on the topic of how American schooling is designed to create compliance to authority. Here's his work titled "Against Schooling" hosted on University of Oregon Library/Faculty Network. He also wrote Dumbing Us Down: The Hidden Curriculum of Compulsory Schooling.
You can also read about him at Wikipedia. Just because you've never heard of him doesn't mean he's "Bullshit"
No I never claimed he is, I claimed your argument in this context is.
How is calling other lemmy user, me in this instance, a "coward" meeting the lemmy TOS of not attacking other users and generally being polite? Feel free to explain that and your "bullshit" comment in the context you intended it.
You are very sensitive on this issue. Is it perhaps because you know I'm at least a little bit right.
Not American - Got it, why don't you go sit in the corner and be quiet then.
I suspect that most of those bases have become paper tigers, if the state of the Abraham Lincoln is any indication.
Yeah, but your map needs updating. There are a lot less us bases in the middle east now.
Because your country is making a shit show in the entire world.
Why don't you as a bare minimum get your CO2 under control instead of being selfish assholes.
And as another minimum requirement, stop supporting genocide and start illegal wars.
But I guess you are one of the morons who are either complicit or don't care.
Come over here and make us then if its so easy. Show us "how its done". Shit you could probably even be back to your home country in a week the way you make it sound.
He claims his home country has no problems so he conveniently doesn't need to get off his couch. He's not even an activist. He's very confident that the process works.
You know nothing, yet you have so much to say…
Many environmental regulations and green energy initiatives were torn asunder by executive orders, i.e. outside of the legislative process. On top of that, the courts (unelected positions at the federal level) and the majority Republican/conservative Congress has allowed/enacted redistricting that weakens areas that are leaning left and strengthens right leaning strongholds. That weakens voters’ ability to counteract regressive ballot measures and/or bills. A common political tactic used in Congress is to add an unpopular clause or initiative to a popular bill to Trojan horse bad policy or to kill a bill meant to enact popular changes You should read about how the Stop Insider Trading Act was paired with a wildly unpopular voter registration requirement -
https://political.org/2026/07/22/house-advances-stock-trading-ban-for-congress-members-democrats-split-on-voter-id-provision/
What I’m getting at is that bad actors in our government have been using legal loopholes to avoid using the legislative process, where they would never get support for the policies that are being forced through now. We haven’t even started talking about the Supreme Court… so please, stop talking down to the people who would be your allies if you could let go of your anger and pride. Many, if not most, Americans are unhappy with the government’s actions domestically and abroad, but organizing a national movement like you’re referring to requires major coordination, education, and resources; all of which are difficult to marshal in a country as geographically large and demographically heterogeneous as the US. It also doesn’t help that federal funding for social services and many social goods are being reduced or eliminated, so now us poors have to figure out how to fill the gaps within our communities. Organizing starts with being neighborly and, brother, you’re being a bad neighbor.
