People spent decades preventing wildfires. Fires are a natural part of ecological systems. Overgrowth and a build up of litter cause more intense fires and increase their ability to spread. In northern regions, people were also preventing beavers from doing their thing that helps reduce wildfire spread. At least in Florida we pioneered controlled burns to simulate nature and save lives.

Australian Aboriginals have been doing it for centuries. Their methods are still used here by the state fire departments.

You have no idea what you are talking about, the forest in Ontario is bigger than Texas.

I don't think many Americans understand how much of the Country is forests. In Quebec everything past the river plains north of A40 or 138 is forests.

Controlled burns in North America predate Florida.
