No, it isn't exciting to see the entirety of my adult years in the official economy wasted by psychopaths who want nothing but to disemploy and imprison everybody. I have to live here in the US Rust Belt, whether or not Chinese losers figure out a way to lose less with their losing machine. When the non-productive economy implodes under the weight of the climate and WW3 (5 years and running), that's not going to be a win for me.

buddy, you're describing capitalism and using AI as a scapegoat. AI data centers should not be built in the US, the developers are doing shoddy, harmful, and pollution. the capitalist class is desperate to dismantle whatever labor power we have left because they see the writing on the wall.
I'm not saying anyone should use AI or suppress their distaste for it, but a crisis of overproduction coupled with the other mounting contradictions means we have a brief window where the working class has a fighting chance take control of its own destiny. living inside the crisis is scary, that's the whole point. that's how they control us and keep us down.
capitalism is inherently unstable, this crash was always going to happen. the question is whether we're prepared to sweep the leg after our big wet boy has smacked himself upside the head.

I am literally a subsistence farmer outside of the nuclear war MAD zone and this is still going to suck for me, what position are you in???
That other user isn't being very nice so I'm not going to tell you not to be ticked off about it. You may not know about our instance, but it has been terminally irony poisoned even before we were on Lemmy. There are a lot of Twitter style attempts to "dunk" on outsiders (happens amongst ourselves too, but that's another story).
Just wanted to give you a heads up that it's not worth ruining your day over, cause I can see both sides of this.
