Flying boats are fixed-wing aircraft with hulls like boats, allowing them to land on water instsead of runways. Lakes, seas, reflecting pools, you name it.
In the early history of flight this kind of thing was popular because there were a lot of places without runways and airstrips, and a lot of those that did exist were too small to accomodate larger, long-distance airplanes. There were other advantages too - because their size wasn't limited by the length of runways, they could be built to an impressive size, and had longer range than land-based airplanes. I imagine it was also comforting to be able to land safely on the water in case of mechanical problems.
I think my favorite flying boat is the Dornier Do X (pictured in the thumbnail) which was made in the 1920's. In addition to seats for about a hundred passengers, its three decks contained an onboard kitchen, a dining room, multiple bathrooms, and a bar. Each nacelle on the top has two engines, for a total of twelve. There's just something magnificent about it.
In the 21st century flying boats are quite rare, although there are a few models used for fighting wildfires. The CL-415 Super Scooper for example, can skim the surface of a lake or reservoir for a few seconds and take in more than six thousand liters of water without stopping!

Sudden feeling that I am a fundamentally unlovable freak, forever mangled by male puberty, lacking the divine spark of humanity that rests in every "real" human's heart, and better off deadHug because you don't deserve to be treated like this by your brain

Sometimes I feel like I do. Sometimes I feel like it would be good and "correct" for me to be in abusive relationship. Like I'm supposed to have someone hit me.spoiler
Girl why are you thinking the same thoughts as me ๐ญ?
I'll give you the same advise I've been given. Find an abuse informed therapist to deal with this. These kinds of thoughts are often the result of past abusive relationships (ex with parents as well).
Carrying around this ... "guilt"(?) isn't what you're meant to do. The abusers train us to believe that we are supposed to be abused.
Woaw twinsies!! My therapist is aware, I'll probably bring it up again in my next session
If you lack the spark then steal it!
I would never steal from another trans person (cis people don't have souls)
The lifespark and the soul are separate things silly eggnog!
You must remember. A person contains 3 components besides their body. The lifespark, soul, and the heart.
The lifespark is the source and engine of vitality
The soul is the source of memories and comprehension
The heart is the source of emotions and bonds.
You are correct in that cis people often lack a soul. This is why they act with such short term memory and ignorance. But if you're lacking a soul you can create one from obtaining comprehension (yes it works both ways). Tho this requires the influence of an external force.
As for lifespark, it can be stolen. Everybody except the undead have one. Stealing the lifespark is often why undead try to attack the living.
Edit: what the hell am I yapping about?
The lifespark if used properly can be used to ignite other lifesparks without loss of the original. Like a candle lighting another. It has to be given freely though never taken.
Such a gentle nature you have!
I was using the lifespark-channeling technique to overdrive my enemies's lifesparks and cause them to explode but if you use this technique on the undead or the infirm it can be used for healing!
You've opened my eyes to a whole new world
