If you are here asking: "Is this a science meme?"

Probably, yes. We use the Dawkins definition of meme: a replicating idea, not just an image macro with a fact on it. A good post here doesn't need to teach you something. It needs to make you ask something: who, what, where, when, and especially why or how.

Science isn't a filing cabinet of facts, it's a conversation. For example, a photo of an eel or other localized wildlife counts because most people never see one, and wonder is the first step of inquiry. A car meme counts if it makes you curious about what's under the bonnet. If you want to talk about something you noticed in the world, chances are someone else wants to talk about it too.

We moderate for vibe, not category. Pruning is light, especially where a post creates interesting discussion. Experimenting is encouraged.

See the pinned paper on Shitposting as Public Pedagogy if you want the academic case for why this works.

How many decades do you suspect this admin is going to single-handedly set the US back?

I’m 36. I fully expect to be dead before things begin improving for the working class in north America as the result of this regime.

Considering Regan, that sounds about right but also way off somehow.

Imagine if trump had a 90 percent approval rate. Thats what reagan era non idiots had to put up with.

I prefer Raygun. Her dance was fun.

I wonder if a 9 yo will see brighter days. I won't be surprised if we all have to love underground before I die

Better start digging that bunker now yo.

The upcoming el nino and blue ocean event/s are going to seriously start moving the timelines up for all this collapsey apocalypse shit, and we're already well into 'faster than expected' territory as it is.

Honestly I think we will see much worse things before it gets better. And it’s not even just Trump man. It’s fucking everything.

Centuries if we count the damage to soft power

Centuries

The civilised world just wants 'Murica to fuck off, shut up and sit in the corner eating crayons

[–] Muffi@programming.dev 2 points 1 month ago

Problem is that we share the same world. Even if left alone, Americans kill our common world with their consumption habits and outdated energy sources.

[–] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago

Eh. I'm old enough to know it's all fuckery, all the way down.

Well helping running the way and the Marshall plan after that was what laid the basis for the 'America as a role model' and subsequent decades of televised and movie propaganda was what consolidated it.

It was already eroding under Bush, but this dipshit has spent all the goodwill there was.

So at least 85 years, I'll say
