What were the original 9 words? Are they particularly famous over there?

[–] backalleycoyote@lemmy.today 25 points 6 days ago (1 children)

“Shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, and tits.” -George Carlin

Well, shit. That’s only seven. Fuck. Take ‘em or leave ‘em you cocksucking motherfuckers. 😘

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 7 points 6 days ago

Shit, fuck, Satan, death, sex drugs, rape - Anthrax

Nope, that's just seven words too

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 15 points 6 days ago

"I'm from the government, and I'm here to help."

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

Yep Reagan was an absolute douchebag. He really thought that rich people earned every dollar and that poor people were leeches on society and the government. He's also famous for coining the phrase "welfare Queen". As if living on welfare was somehow an easy life

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 11 points 6 days ago (1 children)

He's also directly responsible (along with Thatcher) for the neoliberal economic order which dominates the globe today, favoring the wealthy while offering nothing but austerity to the poor.

Before him, we had the remnants of the New Deal economic order, which wasn't perfect but relative to today's standards it was basically social democracy. Of course, Nixon took a chunk out of that progress, but it wasn't truly dead until Reagan.

[–] BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

In the USA it's either racism or Reagan that's the cause of some of the most fucked up stuff.

[–] Bluedragon012@lemmy.world 0 points 6 days ago (1 children)

You forgot one, "Rich white people." while typically they are associated with the first two, there are distinct evils that happen as well.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 2 points 6 days ago (2 children)

If you can't see the inherent connection between Reagan-era economic policies and "rich white people" becoming the monstrosity that it is today, then I think this conversation is above your level.

[–] Septimaeus@infosec.pub 2 points 6 days ago

this conversation is above your level

You’re not wrong, Walter…

[–] Bluedragon012@lemmy.world 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

No, incorrect, there is a breed of rich white people in the democrat and apolitical space. These are the fucks that go on artist retreats abroad and then come back and makes sure all thier friends know that they went on that retreat via slide show and make a point of telling everyone how thier retreat opened thier spiritual mind or some shit. It's also the white cracker ass families that you see on the sides of crochet sets or mildly expensive out door novelties play sets. It's so strange but those fucks are real. This is also the people who don't know what the fuck a lemmy is, or hell even a reddit is. These are the people whos major goals is to make the best lemon pie at the local hoa meeting for thier ritzi rich people neighborhood. These are the people who are so far out of the loop that they make decisions that harm us poor, not our an ounce of maliciousness, rather, because they have enough money that they no longer worry about worldly shit. Go read Anne Moody, Taylor Branch, and anything about HOAs and why they formed. They are distinct non-republican entity that live in thier own plastic universe.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Wow, there's a lot to unpack here.

First of all, you're ignoring the fact that Reagan's policies and legacy disproportionally benefit the rich and disadvantage the poor regardless of political affiliation, so you are demonstrating your ignorance right off the bat.

Second of all, it sounds like you're criticizing the upper-middle class rather than the owner/oligarch caste that's actually the problem. I don't give a fuck if a doctor or a lawyer makes six figures and has a more comfortable life than I do. I give a fuck that a billionaire who owns the means of production and contributes nothing to society is able to siphon the wealth of a nation, give proportionally nothing back in taxes while simultaneously milking the nation's coffers, hoard the fruits of other people's labor which is necessary to their livelihoods; all without lifting a finger other than to place it on the policy decisions of easily-bribed lawmakers.

If you can't see the difference between those two things, then this conversation is indeed above your level.

Next:

It's also the white cracker ass families that you see on the sides of crochet sets or mildly expensive out door novelties play sets.

Wow, okay, just bring racism into it. It's totally possible to criticize class disparity without dropping slurs but you did it anyway.

Also, what the fuck do crochet sets and play sets have to do with anything? I don't give a shit what people do in their free time, and it's really weird that you're choosing to fixate on and resent that of all the things. You sound like jealous brat who doesn't care about uplifting the poor and the marginalized, but only wants to tear people down to your level because of nothing but envy.

These are the people whos major goals is to make the best lemon pie at the local hoa meeting for thier ritzi rich people neighborhood.

What the fuck is wrong with wanting to bring something nice to a potluck? That transcends socioeconomic status. If you want to focus on the problems with HOAs, then focus on that but lemon pie isn't one of them.

These are the people who are so far out of the loop that they make decisions that harm us poor, not our an ounce of maliciousness, rather, because they have enough money that they no longer worry about worldly shit.

Those are the billionaire oligarchs, not the upper-middle class who have jobs with nice salaries. If you're focusing your ire on anyone who makes more money than you instead of the people who own the means of production and don't have to work, then the oligarch's propaganda is working on you.

[–] Bluedragon012@lemmy.world -1 points 4 days ago

So first: The ultra rich are still apart of the problem. That is not in contention.

I am disabled and on fixed income, I bring in less than 1200 a month. So yes the "upper middle" class looks very rich to me. And of course I'm envious of them, they can afford good food, amazing housing, cover and sudden expensive hiccups of living, they get to travel, they get to see more of the world, they get to do more. All things I dont get to do because I gut unlucky in the zip code and genetic lottery.

You want me to be kind and nice to a people who look at me as a leach in society and would like nothing more than to see me disappear?

Also, if you are really upset that I think rich white people don't deserve respect, these are the 2 faced people who would hire minority servants.

Also I can't uplift the poor if I'm part of the poor. In the civil rights movement, there were and still are smaller fish in the shit scale, but who's actions do still damage to the lower classes and minorities.

I'm the type of guy who would point out that Martin Luther King Jr. Had a connection to the Rockefellers.

If I had those 6 figures, I'd be putting it to making sure my husbands family had enough money to raise thier 3 children full time. If I had that kid of money, I'd make sure my cousins saverely autistic child receives the care and attention they need.

But I can't get those 6 figures because I was born in a body that dosent make enough energy for normal living.

I'm calling out the nonsocialist democrats who hold the old guard. I'm calling out those who don't listen to the poor because they are not in it.

But sure, the sole problem alone is 100 or so ultrarich mofos, surely ending them will solve All the problems... /s

You can kill the big weeds, but the smaller weeds will come back and haunt us once again. Civil rights movement to Regan, to now, it keeps repeating and it gets worse or is a different flavor of bad each time, this problem runs deep and has many roots. I don't have a solution, I'm identifying the problems. (note the plural, there are multiple problems all working to stop us from achieving our shared goals of lifting the poor and ending evil people)

[–] bridgeenjoyer@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 days ago

And him, along with Hitler and Drump, promised to "make america (Germany) great again", word for word.

As in, return it to the time where you could beat a black boy to death by accusing him of whistling at a white women and face zero repercussions.

Absolute evil.

[–] HulkSmashBurgers@reddthat.com 1 points 6 days ago

He also did fuck all about the AIDS epidemic.

[–] etherphon@piefed.world 14 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Yeah.. I'm sure hurricane victims hate hearing that shit. Or wildfire victims. I could go on and on. It's almost like if you actually think about any of these stupid ass Republican catch phrases for a minute they're complete bullshit.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Well republican-led states literally rejected disaster relief aid from Biden's government, and then blamed Biden for supposedly not helping. And people in those backwater areas bought it hook line and sinker.

And then early on in trump's second term when Texas got rid of early flood warning systems, and a bunch of girl scouts died in a flash flood because they were all camping on a flood plane, nobody batted an eye about the government's failure.

(By the way, there was a town in texas that kept their warning systems in place, and they experienced zero deaths from that flood. Golly days).

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 1 points 6 days ago

Honestly, the lack of measures against disaster is a likely predictor of how well the Neo-Confederate states would do in a 2nd American Civil War.

That makes me hopeful about the ending of that future history, for rather horrific reasons. 😕

I know I was agreeing with you, sorry if it came out otherwise.

I think we all know Ronny sucked. (also agreeing)

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Mister Gorbachev, tear down this wall and fuck me.

the 80s was a wild time. this is the photo that was taken soon after Reagan had been penetrated, anally, by Gorbachev. you can tell how happy he was by the smile on his face.

totally uncalled for! mom hasn't even tried it, so how can she dislike it?

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)
[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

totally! btw, I have this cool bridge to sell if you're interested...

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 6 days ago (2 children)

So let me get this straight:

You're knowingly peddling misinformation (which makes it disinformation), which only discredits all of the legitimate critique present in this thread; and your response to someone asking for confirmation whether what you said is true or not was a snarky reply insinuating that I'm somehow gullible (for asking if something was true? Which is not the same thing as unquestioning belief, by the way).

In other words, you find it so hilarious and depraved that anyone could possibly wonder if anything you say is worth taking seriously?

At least I know now that you're not a serious person.

[–] starman2112@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Me when someone tells a joke

On the one hand, there's no fucking way you thought it might be possible that Reagan had said "tear down this wall and fuck me." But on the other hand, it would be really funny if you did, so I choose to believe it

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Obviously the quote would be the joke, but it was insinuating that he actually did have sex with Gorbachev, which is honestly not that outlandish and was worth asking for confirmation.

[–] starman2112@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It's not that outlandish that Reagan and Gorbachev might have had a secret affair lmao

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 6 days ago

If King Richard and Suliman the Magnificent could be butt buddies during the crusades, what's stopping a couple of cold war era heads of state of rival world powers from being star-crossed lovers?

I'm sure they had enough confidential meetings to pull it off, and do I really need to enumerate how many conservatives are actually closeted homosexuals?

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 0 points 6 days ago (1 children)

if you're on a political community thread and mistake Robbin Williams for Ronald Reagan you're asking for it.

chill tf out dude.

whatever "disinformation" I'm "peddling" about Reagan isn't a quarter as bad as the real shit he said or did.

get off your high horse.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

whatever "disinformation" I'm "peddling" about Reagan isn't a quarter as bad as the real shit he said or did.

Right, so take some of the legitimate critique you can make about Reagan and focus on that instead of discrediting yourself and everyone else who criticizes him by presenting falsehoods as facts "on a political thread," as you pointed out.

If you can't see how damaging long-term it can be to spread bullshit instead of factual critiques, then you're the one who has a high-horse you need to dismount.

It's not Reagan I'm defending, it's the integrity of the criticism directed at Reagan.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)
[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Alright, if we can't have any serious discussions here (even on a thread in a political community, as you so rightly pointed out!) then I guess there's no fucking point in having a fediverse at all, since apparently we're only allowed to use it for shitposts and circlejerks.

Is that what you want? Is the whole reason for decentralization, autonomy, anonymity, and data sovereignty so that the government can't see your dank-ass memes?

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

why are you so angry? you need to take a break from media dude, seriously.

like, just flip me off and move on. don't let me ruin your perfectly terrible day.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I'm angry because I was so ready to drop history facts about King Richard and Suliman the Magnificent being butt buddies during the crusades and you NEVER SET ME UP TO DROP THOSE FACTS.

Like you could've said "Oh haha, as if the heads of state of two rival civilizations could ever have anal intercourse with each other." But you didn't!

The sheer NERVE.
