not many people know but "lesbian" is actually contraction of "let's be an", from the slogan "let's be an example to all freedom fighters the world over"

Living on the island of Lesbos around 600 BCE, Sappho was a priestess lyric poet who wrote and sang eloquently on themes of love, passion and longing.

I always kind of intuited that but I didn't know it was because Sappho was from there.
