This is an aspect I wanted to zoom in on. So Fox News, which has brain-broken your parents and grandparents into thinking there is no such thing as fascism and that's just a bad word that liberals call you, and libs are being hysterical when they call someone a Nazi, can actually recognize a Totenkopff when they see one?

they are now aware of one specific totenkopf on one specific person, that specific totenkopf is bad. they will never engage with any other totenkopf in any other context until told to

you cannot underestimate this specific strain of boomer and that's not a warning, it's literally impossible

The inconsistency is half the point. They don't really have beliefs. They have things they say to indicate that they are part of the in-group that should be protected but not bound by the law

I've def heard the "who this is for" demographic elaborate that point in a specific context without even realizing they were saying this or thinking that someone might not agree with the sentiment.

The average fox news viewer is a boomer who grew up on stories of heroic Americans defeating Nazis, they are seen essentially as cartoon villains who disappeared in 1945. This headline is just "look how comically evil Democrats are being"
