I get it. One of my best friends had a kid in 2015. After they were born he found out they have an incredibly rare genetic disorder (one that’s essentially 1 in a billion) and will need 24/7 medical intervention from about the age of two onward. He started going off the deep end politically after that. COVID hit and he was unrecognizable from the person he used to be. Pain and stress can do a lot of harm. I’m happy he’s a really great dad, but his beliefs about LGBTQ people and immigrants are so abhorrent we can’t be friends anymore.
