in a plot to overthrow the pro-Moscow government of then-Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych during the Euromaidan uprising of 2013-14.

Was he even pro-Moscow? I thought the EU wanted free trade with Ukraine as long as they ended their free-trade agreement with Russia, and he hesitated because he knew that would be only advantageous to the EU? He seemed pretty neutral until that point.
