"starting at" $300

How bad is a speeding ticket that anyone would pay this much for a traffic lawyer? Last time I got one it was like $120 but that was like ten years ago so

Anyway beating a speeding ticket yourself is highly achievable in most jurisdictions (this video is for Canada so seek out info specific to your location)

If they could guarantee it'll go away and IF it would ONLY cost 300 (instead of "starting at") I would honestly do that because yeah it's a lot of money but I'm very afraid of crashing out in the middle of a courtroom with some rant about how speeding is a victimless crime and/or the state should have some obligation to do something about the highway (i.e. raise the speed limit to what people are actually driving or improve the road so that the DOT nerd fuckers will do so) other than just have 3 state troopers camp out fining people when literally every fucking body drives way over the speed limit on this particular 8 mile stretch of road (gee i wonder why the cops practically live on it) and then get penalized 10000x more because the judge hates how right I am

The state trooper said I was doing 74 (I think I was doing 67-69 but I wasn't looking at the speedometer when he pulled me over because I was rehearsing arguments in my head against my parents' transphobia and not paying attention (to shit like my speedometer) since the road was fucking 100% empty ahead of me) which would make it >15 over the speed limit which means it's a criminal offense and I could be looking at a month of jail time or a suspended license or some shit which I really don't want to happen.

My coworker is going through the same shit and they're making him do fucking community service which I also really do not want to do because I am extremely bothered by how community service to avoid jail is coerced labor. He was going over 30mph over the limit though and idk the road conditions he was on so hopefully I don't have to deal with the same shit

Meanwhile here in ohio that only matters if you were booked going over 100 no matter the speed limit. Source: I was booked going 90 (the ticket said 88 or 89, I don't remember) in a 60, and it was on one of those divided rural highways.

All I had to do was go pay the ticket.

Wow, that’s really harsh. Where I am, it counts as reckless driving, which is an extra strike on your driving record and a higher fine, but not criminal. That’s crazy, a month in jail for driving fast on an empty road.

If it's a matter of losing your license, it might be worth mounting such a defense instead of losing your ability to commute to work. Doubly so if you have a CDL and driving is your work.

its not about the money/fine its about the points on your license and whether or not itll ding your insurance premiums.

$300 now to save you thousands in raised insurance costs.
