untrue. he spread and normalized hate speech and misinformation. he damaged lives with his platform and negligence. I would even go as far to say his anti-vaccine rhetoric killed at least one person, probably more.
he labeled black Americans as a hate group which I'm certain normalized the racism in certain groups and only served to take away more opportunities away from POC.
he also questioned the amount of deaths during the Holocaust, attempting to minimize the impact of the deaths.

Agreed. That's why I put "scare quotes" around the word "do" to imply that he actually did do something. I wasn't defending them I was responding specifically to the comment above.
The why is simply that an entertainer disrespecting the fans that supported their success is a recipe for failure.
I just assumed they were the weird emphasis quotes people do for some reason
