9. No link shorteners.
The auto mod will contact you if a link shortener is detected, please delete your post if they are right.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

I feel like suing the government under this administration does not do anything because the current federal government rules with an iron fist. they have proven time and time and time again they do not care what laws or the constitution say.
In a sane world where law is respected, yes, I agree with everything you are saying. however, we live in an age where logic and the rule of law do not prevail. i feel their radical actions will catch up to them eventually, but at what cost? what if they do something that ends my life? I won't be able to enjoy when justice is eventually served...
currently, if someone is in a position of power and they have integrity, they should be holding onto that position for dear life while they weather this storm. the alternative leaves corruption to fill these vacant jobs with someone who has no integrity, in my opinion.

to clarify my statement: in my opinion, the wheels of justice are turning too slowly for a president that wakes up, waves a wand, and gets what he wants. his actions have real consequences for real Americans.
just last week, 10 billion dollars for child care was halted for states that are not republican. the effects malnourished children have every day they go hungry may last a lifetime.... and im just supposed to wait for the litigation you posted to get things sorted out? unacceptable.
I have no doubt the law is accurately tracking and will get things done, but the wait doesnt work for people that depend on social services
Well, yes. I agree on that. But it's what we have. And it's exactly why they move fast and break things.
They're hoping to demoralize the American public to get further power.
I agree it is what we have as well, but there has got to be a better faster way to clean this mess up that isn't violent.

People here don't like reading about the power our legal system has, they want to see drama and world wrestling stageplay. They want to imagine we're going to have a glorious people's liberation movement with molotov cocktails and guillotines. Everyone is the same, everyone rather escape into kayfabe.
Exactly, it's more kayfabe but on the left. It's people who rather indulge in a storyline than get active in their community and start fixing things structurally by like, working to elect actual representation for their communities and states.
My problem with America's leftists who want to violence their way to a better world is that in this country we don't even have experience doing that kind of thing, we don't have a plan, and nobody can give me a follow-through for what will happen if we magically end up with our glorious socialist leader who overthrows the government.
What about the millions of people we live next to who didn't vote for or ask for a coup? What about the military who are not only the largest and most powerful fighting force in the world, but are dedicated to protecting the seat of power in the US? Who exactly are we going to depose? All of congress and senate? What about their aides? What about the various departments and cabinets? Do we have people lined up to run the new government? Or are we gonna raw-dog it like they did in Nepal?
I strongly feel most people have ZERO idea the scale of such things and amount of coordination and planning involved in the kinds of fantasy plans the average lemmy lefty indulges in.
I see comments like that either calling for Trump to be deposed, or yeah, a full on civil war against Republicans at that point. The second is from people who can view chess only a few more moves in advance than those saying the first and know that we have a presidential line of succession and it's just as bad all the way down. But both are extremely naive views because this is a cultural problem with Republicans as a whole. Even if somehow you were to Thanos snap every Republican in power, the next election cycle will be just as bad, if not worse.
To fix, you have to address the militant individualism thats been romanticized by billionaires; the only thing that seems to have tricked down from them, who's only purpose is to get people to vote to lower taxes, but mainly benefit the rich. Democrats should start running on lowering or cutting taxes out right for anyone making less than 350k, and watch the cognitive dissonance happen with the hard core Rs who made their whole identity about not getting taxed.
Then we continue to build up our communities and homesteading hobbies and primary any Democrat who gives an inch to these fascists.
I really support this. We lost the reins when we checked out of our local communities and stopped looking at our local council leaders, judges, sheriffs and of course mayors and governors with the same scrutiny as we fixed on the annual 4-year WWE EXTREME federal election spectacle.
If we held them to the same standards and created a foundation of people who actually represent us, it would be far, far harder for the higher elected officials to walk all over us. And it's far easier to actually make changes to your community, it's actually doable to recall people in power in your state! Many state congress people often run uncontested as well, and if we paid attention to these situations we could mount opposition or even oppose them ourselves.
The thing that worries me is that so many are so cynical that they can't feel engaged with the often boring and even cringey state of local politics, and will invent reasons in their head to avoid involvement because it feels far, far less rewarding than complaining on the internet to people who will give you upvotes. I feel like this goes hand-in-hand with the social isolation that we've allowed to fester on both sides.
I really have to thank my wife as it's been a recent change for me, I was pretty isolationist. She's been a "townie" all her life and since moving in almost 8 years ago, I've started to really see the benefits of community, like farmers markets and such.
I think the best thing for people is to get active in their local community and politics. My brother was pretty conservative going back a long while; mainly about wanting lower or no taxes. He then ran for and won his HOA presidency and quickly realized how fucked they would be if they just got rid of their HoA fees. They needed to dredge their lake but the previous administration signed in a bilaw stating they couldn't raise the fees. They didn't have the money for it outright, nor could they pay back a loan. He didn't run again, but I'd like to think he learn a valuable lesson about public service that day, and the effort it takes to run a community.
So I've been protesting any company that's publicly traded. Had the same cell phone since 2019. Moving funds into a credit union. Cooking meals at home. On the rare occasion we eat out it's at a locally owned restaurant. Buying our produce at the farmers market and growing some of our own. For the stuff we can't avoid, getting bulk items from Costco until we can source better AND local. And then socials, getting rid of all the major ones and switching to the fediverse.
They're just as stupid as magats. How are they going to fight the most powerful military on the planet, with the largest police state backing that military up?
That is not going to happen. I'm sick of these keyboard agitators everywhere trying to stir up violence. That's exactly what this regime wants. And if shit hits the fan you know none of these cowards will walk the walk. It's so easy to bitch about what other people should be doing from the comfort of your home.
