First Greenland movie was apparently made during Trump's first presidency. Neill Blomkamp (semi-based anti-Trump radlib) was set to direct it but he left the project with no reason given. The final director, Ric Roman Waugh, apparently does other US propaganda movies (Angel Has Fallen, Kandahar).
I haven't actually seen any of these movies, but I wouldn't rule out long-con psyop on this one.
I don't even know how what the point of it is though when reading the plot synopsis they are only even IN Greenland because that was the destination in the 1st movie, it looks like it's all about getting to the comet impact zone in this (which is of course, and very logically so, the only safe place in the world)
In terms of propaganda, don't underestimate the power of simply mentioning an obscure place in pop culture. It's like product placement.
ive seen all of the "Burger Has Fallen" movies and willingly celebrate the filmography of Gerard Butler, like a pig rolling in hot August garbage. Angel Has Fallen is the funniest one, just for an extensive scene where his paranoid PTSD hermit father goes vietcong tunnel rat in the mountains of Jerkwater, West Virginia against the Blackwater-standin mercs. fuck i think im gonna rewatch that shit again this week.
anyway, the first Greenland movie is hilarious. like some kind of eugenics-central planning + apocalypse fever dream of suburban dad vs a doomed Burgerland. i can't even fathom how they franchise it into a sequel, so that will be the subtext of its sequel for me while i stuff potato wedges into my laughing gob.
Gerard Butler, you have done it again.
