Dammit, Massachusetts is only $15/hr and no plans to increase. Given our cost of living, we really need to try harder

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 21 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Any state with a minimum lower than $15/hr is a fucking joke.

Same with Pennsylvania. But I dont know of any jobs that pay that little, nor do I know of anybody that would work a job at that rate. However, i believe it creates psychological leverage benefitting employers holding wages low: "I know we pay $10.25 per hour, but that's $3 above minimum wage! We pay really well."

Oof, that's what I used to make 25 years ago

[–] winkerjadams@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 hours ago

Its been the federal minimum for longer than that. This place is a joke

Man, thats how much I got while working there (in the US, not Texas) like, 10 years ago. Is that even enough to survive these days?

[–] Sir_Kevin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 11 hours ago

If you doubled it, no.. still not enough to get by.
