N.A. drinks are kinda expensive fr tho

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 26 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Especially since they're just juice

Not even fresh-squeezed

I can just grab a can of Arizona for 99 cents and it's already mixed up and ready for me

Or get the exact same thing at a bar for like $10 lmao

"NO outside food or drinks!"

*sigh* Fine. I just want a water then.

"Two drink minimum."

I'm the DD.

"Two drink minimum. Go wait outside."

Fuck a mocktail. Soda water and bitters the goat.

They're only good if it's a legit cocktail bar where all the ingredients are actually made in house and are worth trying out.

A mocktail that's just a mixed drink with no alcohol is stupid.

Ten years ago I was inclined to agree with you, but most of the cocktail bars and distilleries in the city I’m nearest to have started batching most of their mocktails. At best, they’re $10 juices that get poured from a jug, shaken with some aromatics, and served in a rimmed glass or something of the like. I’ll stick with my soda water and bitters… which somehow still usually runs in the neighborhood of $2-3… Actually, I’ll just stay home.

I'm only saying this because there's a singular specific bar that I have in my town that is run by one very talented bartender who makes all the drinks herself including the mocktails.

I've seen maybe 2 other places do that, and it's the only time they're any good

She straight up makes virgin ramos gin fizzes and puts in the effort to shake the drink for 4 minutes to get the fizz.
