I once had a car with a broken cruise control switch, the catch mechanism broke or something and the button wouldn't stay pressed in. I wedged a penny in the gap next to the button after pressing it and that kept it in. Cheapest car repair ever, now that same fix would cost 10x smdh

I have drilled holes in pennies to use them as washers.

That's cool.

How long before the disappearance of those machines you find in gift shops that roll out and stamp pennies with kitschy designs?

Good question. I have a friend who collects those stamped pennies.

I've seen enough washers laying around in the street to never need to do this (also I've never needed a washer in general)

Years ago I had this Dell laptop where the frame around the screen kept popping open around one of the hinges. I needed a washer with a lot of surface area, but only a tiny hole for the small bolt I wanted to use. Penny was perfect.
