lol covering his sexist ass for the sake of his profitability.

[–] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 88 points 1 week ago (8 children)

I lived long enough to watch gangsters turn into posers

[–] But_my_mom_says_im_cool@lemmy.world 56 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Whenever I see Eminem im like “dude smile, you’re a 50 something billionaire, nobody thinks you’re hard”

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 9 hours ago

also like, he's already been hard and genuine, why does he need to keep trying? he made it, he got popular and make music about how his life sucked and whatnot, just retire.

[–] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 30 points 1 week ago

That's so true lol. My 10 year old daughter almost shit herself when I told her he's literally a grandpa.

Greed is a hell of a drug.

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Are gangsters preferable? Doesn't sound like either end of that spectrum is great, but I'd prefer my suburb be full of posers.

[–] WalrusDragonOnABike@reddthat.com 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

My gangster neighbors are cool people. Certainly better than your average neighbor.

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (3 children)

But... What crimes do they do to qualify as gangster then?

[–] WalrusDragonOnABike@reddthat.com 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

🤷‍♀️ Not sure. None of my business.

As long as they are real gangsters.

A lot of people get confused with the tryhards that dress flashy and show everyone their money as if they are a Hollywood hip-hop celebrity.

They're nothing like that; you'd think they're just ordinary people at a glance.

[–] MirrorGiraffe@piefed.social 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They got their crip walk down and are really good at hand shakes?

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Because THAT'S Hip Hop!

[–] RaoulDuke@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

They could be hood.

[–] lectricleopard@lemmy.world -5 points 1 week ago

Its authentic. Snoop came by the gangster lifestyle honestly, he grew up that way.

Changing your views to be more progressive, when you are person with a public image, may be disingenuous. I'm not going to form an opinion on his true motives, but plenty of people will.

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 week ago

Frankly, it’s the most “gangster” thing he’s done in a while. Most gangsters are bigots. It’s a low education background

[–] nomy@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago

Most of them are "studio gangsters" who tell imaginary stories they just make up.

[–] WhatGodIsMadeOf@feddit.org 1 points 1 week ago

They were all just used and marketed by businessmen.

[–] NotSteve_@piefed.ca 42 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Honestly in this political climate, I'll take it. He could have easily taken a hard right turn

[–] athairmor@lemmy.world 28 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He played at Trumps inaugural Crypto Ball.

You can’t turn much farther right than that.

[–] PKscope@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm just trying to imagine Trump watching a Snoop Dogg performance and wondering what fresh hell he's be dropped into. Pretty far from Ava Maria.

[–] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Drumpf was probably wondering why Snoop wasn't singing YMCA

[–] qualia@lemmy.world 25 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

In Bo Burnham voice: His $27 8-packs weren't selling very well, those sorts of problems.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 4 points 1 week ago

and transphobia.

[–] DaTingGoBrrr@lemmy.world -3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

There is always something to critique, huh? I think it's positive that he has changed his stance regarding LGBTQ+ and even made a children's song spreading the message that love is love. We need more inclusion, acceptance and tolerance in this society.

If Snoop is smart enough to spread a positive message and earn money at the same time, then good for him. At least he is trying to spread positivity to the world.

[–] BroBot9000@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

All he saw was his bottom line dropping and backpedaled.

Did you forget the Trump event he played at? 😂

That’s not someone who has goodness in their heart. He’s an opportunist and business man who is more likely to end up heading events in Dubai with Dave Chappell over doing something meaningful to spite the oligarchs that are actively seeking to kill LGBTQ+ individuals.
