Dude had enough money to own a boat so I doubt lack of access to good healthcare was what drove him to this.

This is his book I guess: https://www.amazon.com/Headshot-Betrayal-Sean-William-DeBevoise/dp/B08HTP4Q4G

Most notable thing left out of the article seems to be that he claims all his wounds in iraq were friendly fire including the bullet to the head.

That is 100% believable. IIRC during the invasion and the early years of the occupation most casualties were from friendly fire, only being eclipsed by IEDs later on.

hey, I wonder if he was a real piece of shit

Fragging goes both ways, some people who grow a conscience get smoked by pieces of shit too.

[–] Runcible@hexbear.net 6 points 6 months ago

yeah, though he did (presumably) go on to shoot up a restaurant so hard to imagine that was the case

[–] Red_October@hexbear.net 5 points 6 months ago

Or someone who was originally against the invasion.

data-laughing

Writing all that and then thinking "Hmmmm yes, 2 stars" is so fucking funny. Very insightful review, if this gets taken down I'm glad you spotted it and got a picture.

doubt lack of access to good healthcare

you also have to want to access healthcare, and it's often very difficult to get men to seek help for mental health issues, i know people who self medicated hallucinations well into their adult life

mental health always catches up with you, start dealing with it now if you can

[–] Wheaties@hexbear.net 12 points 6 months ago

On top of that, even if you aren't worried about expenses and access, mental health institutions are a painful slog to get through when you're in a halfway decent headspace. Paperwork and med management when you're dealing with disorganized thinking is the absolute pits.

I don't know the conditions of the boat but it does not look like an expensive one. Probably a little cheaper than brand new budget sedan family car

Just keeping a small boat costs a fortune. They are money pits that burn money on constant maintenance. The usual calculation is that it costs 10% of the price of the boat new per year. This is a Cuddy Cabin which is like 24k-50k new. 1500 is being spent on every 100hr service, fuel on top, mooring, winterising, insurance, etc. People who own these things have very healthy incomes.

They SHOULD have healthy incomes, but this is the land of credit cards yea
