I would simply not fear an 11 year old. Kids who are like 8-12ish are usually pretty cool. Old enough you can more or less interact like you would anyone else but not teenage enough to be compulsively an asshole, plus while you can for sure still beat them at video games they can at least hold their own now. From being around different friend's different kids over the years and watching them time to time, they're pretty agreeable even. Definitely not worth shooting

Considering what I was like at 10, kids that age can be pretty obnoxious. But like, maybe I was uniquely bad because I was going through my right-libertarian phase. My politics improved, I think I'm still kinda weird socially and have a tendency to hyperfixate on stuff.

Yeah, but you remember immediately that they're children again once they interact with their younger peers, or if they get upset
