Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Couldn’t have done it without you, Joe.

[–] blakenong@lemmings.world -3 points 10 months ago (3 children)

Joe had nothing to do with it lol. There was always a “not Trump” option.

[–] GeeDubHayduke@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 10 months ago

The supreme court made him a king. He had every right and ability to prevent ALL OF THIS, and he just whined his way out of office.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

An option so terrible that being not Trump was not enough to get it to the White House.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world -1 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (3 children)

How was Harris a terrible option?
Or was it because she is a woman, and because of her color?

USA got what they deserved.

Yes Biden was maybe mediocre, but how does that justify not preventing a flaming fascist sociopath from taking the office? It wasn't Biden that elected Trump, it was the Americans.
Blaming Biden for it is idiotic.

[–] VanillaFrosty@lemmy.world 11 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

She was offering 50k tax breaks to small business and 20k down payments for first time home buyers, great on paper. But 70% of Americans work paycheck to paycheck, so they can't utilize that. And her healthcare for all became healthcare for some became expanding the ACA. So no help for the majority of people.

And when asked if she'd change anything, she declined. But then suddenly changed her mind and said she'd add a Republican to the cabinet. Further alienating the 70% of people that work paycheck to paycheck and anyone who understand what Republicans are. Can't forget parading around with good ol Liz too. Really winning with that one.

When asked the simple question of "Should trans people exist?" Her answer was they should follow the law. Disgusting. Unwilling to acknowledge somes right to exist in hopes of courting centrists. Instead pushing away both sides.

Her and Biden continued the genocide despite loud outcry from progressives. If progressives are such a tiny a faction that they aren't worth catering to with policy, then you can't be mad when you didn't get their vote. And if you think it's their fault the Dems lost then you should still be mad at the Dems for alienating them.

Honestly I agree with you that the US got what it deserved. But not because of its vote, rather because what we've become. Your options are continuing the status quo (ya know that one with 70% of people being pay check to pay check) or fascism. There was no right choice for most people. And I find it funny how privileged libs are to think there was.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 5 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Sigh. Gaza genocide? Immigration, including the border wall? Most lethal army in the world? The total lack of commitment to a serious social welfare plan (by election day her promises were all either completely ignored or watered down beyond recognition)? Her disdain for all her voters left of Reagan and especially the massive anti-war faction? Including Republicans in her cabinet? "Nothing comes to mind? I try not to be rude in these interactions, but you should think before you say these things. Harris 2024 was going to accomplish nothing except be an appetizer for Trump 2028, because she had nothing to offer to the people who were hurting and looking for anything resembling help.

but how does that justify not preventing a flaming fascist sociopath from taking the office?

Who do you want to justify their actions to you? It doesn't matter whether it's justified for not; it happened, it was always going to happen and whenever someone tried to prevent it people like you would scream "but fascism" not realizing they're only helping the fascists.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

immigration

Imagine saying this with a straight face after the events of the past 3 months. Unreal.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 0 points 10 months ago (1 children)

What about the past three months makes Harris adopting the border wall position anything short of complete and utter stupidity?

Sigh. Gaza genocide?

For fucks sake! How is that better with Trump? Trump doesn't give a shit, and doesn't even criticize Israel for that. It's the most moronic argument there is, yet it's still pushed?!

It doesn’t matter whether it’s justified for not

You need to justify it to yourself, that's the point. Why would you think they are responsible to anybody else for their vote?

[–] gregs_gumption@lemm.ee 2 points 10 months ago

Democratic flavored genocide wasn't enough for the Lemmy progressives so they aggressively campaigned for Trump to really ramp things up.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 0 points 10 months ago (1 children)

For fucks sake! How is that better with Trump?

Point me to where I said it was.

You need to justify it to yourself, that's the point.

Why? i never told anyone to vote for Trump.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 0 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

The place where you use it as an argument for not voting for Harris.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 1 points 10 months ago

I never made that argument. I said Harris was obviously going to lose because she was such a horrible candidate and that a lot more pressure should've been put on her by the people to avoid that outcome.

[–] ChristmasApe@discuss.online 5 points 10 months ago

If he got an AG that would have actually dropped some cases on Trump this whole situation would have been avoided and justice would have been served.

[–] ChristmasApe@discuss.online 5 points 10 months ago

Joe could have lit a fire under his AG’s ass and gotten this fuck in jail before he could win the election.
