Summary

Steve Bannon intensified his attacks on Elon Musk, calling him a "parasitic illegal immigrant" and accusing him of undermining American traditions.

The feud highlights a growing divide among Trump loyalists as Musk, a key donor and adviser in Trump's second term, leads DOGE.

Bannon criticized Musk's handling of budget cuts and his reluctance to target Pentagon spending.

Musk dismissed Bannon's remarks, while Trump defended Musk's role.

The thing is, Musk clearly has some kompromat on Trump, and he can't really throw Musk under the bus without Musk firing back to hurt Trump.

Bannon has been kicked to the curb and is unhappy about it, but frankly, Musk knew how to play the game and get the dirt so Trump can't push back without having Musk reveal the truth of the matter.

My guess is evidence Musk helped him cheat in the election and that Harris would have actually won.

Kind of like in 2004 and the Dems just let it slide then instead of trying to prove it.

I'm starting to think no one has kompromat on Trump, mainly because he's too shameless and immune to everything that nothing can carry any weight.

What does seem to easily work on Trump is feeding his ego. The tech-bros were a realm of huge wealth and a party he wasn't really invited to. To be invited to the table by those folks and flattered is plenty to make Trump putty in their hands.

His first wave of sycophants just can't compete with the big boys that have started playing the games. The cool kids let him sit at the table now, so why acknowledge the losers he used to sit with?

Yeah I really think it's that simple. Elon Musk and the like have more money than God, and that's really the only thing Trump cares about

I doubt that Musk has anything on Trump. Much more likely is Trump having a lot of reasons to like and admire Musk:

  • is the richest man in the world
  • has constant attention from the public
  • publicly spouts nazi positions
  • publicly spouts anti-government positions
  • spent millions on Trump's reelection campaign

What Musk has on trump is that he bought him the presidency and bailed him out on a shit-ton of debt, so much we can't even know what all Musk has given trump, so trump as POTUS now has nothing to worry about any more--except Musk. In return Musk gets to pocket and funnel billions of taxpayer money into his businesses (and not to his competitors), incapacitate all the government agencies that regulate his businesses or investigate complaints about his businesses--all his problems have gone away and he totally owns trump. We need only watch how "Little X" can pick his nose to tell trump to shut up to his face during a press conference and trump sits there and takes it, to know this is how things are.

[–] turtle@lemm.ee 3 points 2 days ago

I think this is a much more realistic assessment of their relationship, rather than Musk having compromising info on Trump.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If it’s just that musk bailed him out of debt and paid for him to win the election, why does Trump still need him when that’s all done now? Why not kick him to the curb?

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm sure he's made sure that he still holds power over trump, at least financially and maybe in other ways like having the goods on him for crimes. So besides what he outright paid for, a lot of what Musk has bailed trump out with would be recorded as loans, so as soon as trump tries to shut him out, Musk could show the receipts and call in the loans, which would bankrupt and humiliate trump. God only knows what all kinds of shit he has over him but trump's behavior tells me it's substantial.

I don't think it's just debt. Everyone already knows Trump doesn't pay his debts and he's spun it into a show of strength.

Musk has Trump's Twitter messages. His connections with Epstein might be able to bring him down, and he's dumb enough to brag about horrific things in Twitter DMs, I wonder if he actually did?

Trump is weak and just sucks up to anyone powerful. Doesn’t matter if it’s Putin, Musk, Erdogan, or Kim Jong Un.

[–] turtle@lemm.ee 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Oh, for sure! But Musk also has a lot of other qualities that Trump likes, besides being powerful.

Does Musk like McDonalds, too?

Have you seen him in swim trunks

[–] 474D@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

The question is what could musk have to bring down trump? Even trump can't take down trump. His base doesn't care, they'll just lie and normalize it.
