For me, part of getting older was just realizing I'm not mainly living for myself anymore. I had to find joy in helping those I care about find joy, usually in just ordinary and mundane events or gestures. It's not exciting but it works. Just try to find those moments that make it worth it, even when it's been a while, just know those times will come.
