Cats paw means to be a (usually unwitting) tool for someone else
Which is a weird expression cause, have you ever met a cat? Those paws will.never be a tool of anyone, witingly or otherwise
It's from a fable~
The fable of the monkey and the cat, they're at a fire place roasting chest nuts. The monkey convinces the cat to snatch out the chest nuts so they can eat em. But the monkey just eats each one as the cat gets it out - the cat just gets burnt paws
That monkey was a dick.
