I have to disagree. WotR is a great game (finally finished it today for the first time after 180h) but it lacks a lot of things why it is not really mainstream.

It's extremely text heavy with very little voiced dialogue. The presentation is nowhere on the level of modern mainstream games. The ruleset is much harder to understand compared to BG3, partially because of the complexity, partially because it does not explain it that good. Some gameplay elements like Crusade Mode or puzzles are really inaccessible, I have no idea how to tackle some things of that without a guide.

Additionally to the original Alan Wake there was also American Nightmare. I think that game did not help convincing publishers that the next Alan Wake won't be a flop.

There is a lot of trial and error on the server, so a lot of the discussion is not really suited for something like Lemmy.

But someone on Matrix asked if there is a wiki, a couple of days ago. Maybe that would actually be useful.

Free roam maps are pretty popular in original Assetto Corsa. I don't really get the fascination either, but some people just seem to like it.

I have not tried them myself, because I own Heusinkvelds, but I know that the Simjack pedals are actually working on Linux. All those Heusinkveld clones (Simjack, Simsonn, Simruito) are often recommended because of their high value for the low price, so that's what I would go for. You also can check on the Linux Simracing Matrix channel: https://matrix.to/#%2F%21iDfbActWrqjZKJomiv%3Amatrix.org%3Fvia=matrix.org&via=tchncs.de&via=synapse.brak.space

For my experience with the Heusinkveld pedals on Linux: You don't have to have any software constantly running. I set them up on Windows years ago when I was still dual-booting, but haven't used the Heusinkveld software ever since. No idea if you can get the software running with Wine for initial setup.

Edit: Concerning wheels, you can also check out this compatibility list: https://github.com/JacKeTUs/linux-steering-wheels I was racing with a Logitech G29 for years myself before I made the switch to a Moza base last year. There is no extra list for pedals because they are basically just stupid 3-axis controllers. If you really want a native Linux software to calibrate your wheels, there is one for Moza pedals: https://github.com/Lawstorant/boxflat
