This could be really useful for someone who doesn't even realize that there are trains some places, but I think in cases where the train is so much better than flying they should put it at the top:

God dammit Mazda, you were supposed to be one of the good ones!

Bandcamp seems decent but it's got a small and niche catalog.

Yeah you could probably find a path through New Mexico and Arizona that's not too mountainous, like along I-10.

But really where the US "needs" more water is where all the farms are. The cities don't use much in comparison. It's just a lot in a small area compared to the farms distributed in the big valleys.

I'm sorry, are you saying that a pipeline from the great lakes to Los Angeles would have to go through less mountains than from British Columbia?

* gestures vaguely at the entire mountain west *

Even more so, yes. I will be mostly fine in California even if Trump is elected, in all likelihood. The worst things about Trump's presidency were not felt here but seen in other states.

Obviously Trump is a huge threat to federalism in general and democracy at the federal level, but they can only do so much to the states and cities.

Where would you rather live under a trump presidency? Los Angeles or Orlando? Seattle or Nashville? Philadelphia or Little Rock? Even Austin, a very blue city, is prevented from doing a lot of good by the state of Texas.

Good news if you are a resident of California, Vermont, or North Dakota:

My "Personalized Shopping" setting was unchecked.

Another reminder that your state and local elections matter more than the federal to your daily lives.

One of the concerns I would have with custom ROMs for TVs is that I think a lot of the image processing magic that makes the image look good on these high end displays is done in some proprietary method that the custom ROM wouldn't be able to use. Either in software or in hardware.

The magic of the high end TVs isn't actually in the panel itself as much as in the driving of the panel.

Recently I started noticing that a lot of posts will mark as read for a second then go back to unread when viewing just the image or article. It's not all posts though and I haven't determined a pattern yet, but opening the comments seems to mark as read on refresh even though the post looks unread before refreshing.

I'm on version 122 of Sync on Android.

Clickbait.

Article is nearly 10 years old.

Article contains no studies or surveys showing this result.

The 50% figure is calculated by assuming a paltry annual raise and consistent large pay bumps by switching companies.

*** Solved: it was pointed out there is a Lemmy setting that enables showing read posts, rather than a Sync setting.

At some point I think I enabled a setting to hide read posts automatically, but now I can't seem to find a way to stop this behavior. There is also no method to unhide posts. So now once I've read a post, after I refresh it is gone forever in the app.

Tried resetting all settings back to default and erased user data in android but it seems stuck, maybe to my user account?

It's redundant because there's basically a circular argument that G and C are using to not respond to the workers. Workers want to C negotiate with G on the terms of their work with G but C says they can't because they're just contracting with G. Then G says the workers can't negotiate with G because they work for C. Both companies point the finger at the other as to why they can't help and just give nothing back to the workers.
