Wes Streeting resigned as UK Health Secretary and calls for Starmer to step down.

::: spoiler Personal take / editorialising I note that his last major act as Health Secretary was allowing Palantir full access to NHS patient records. He also spent his entire term telling trans people that new restrictions on their healthcare / rights have all been part of some bigger plan to make things better, somehow, that will now clearly never be followed up on (if it wasn't clear already).

He also neglected to mention the Mandelson affair in his published criticisms of Starmer.

Are we [deluding] ourselves here that this is one of the Iranian objectives

My understanding is that payment in yuan is the main condition for sailing oil tankers through the strait, that this is a real thing happenings now which some countries have already agreed to. It's strange we don't see it here but that's probably because they want to slow roll it, no way the US just laterally gives up the petrodollar in one go

I think Syria was more important as the first "big success" for Trump which led to Venezuela and now this. Syria seemed very hard to take in the past and now closely mirrors what they expected from this conflict, kidnapping Maduro was more an ego boost

I've seen both of these and while they're quite good, I had no idea these would be considered the best movies of the year. Feels like we had several better movies in 2023 alone, to say nothing of pre-2000s cinema

I must be the one person who finds this useful because was just looking for it, but inv.nadeko.net was the only link that actually worked. The third link has an SSL error which is not good, and the other two never seemed to load

Fractional scaling, including support for multiple monitors with different scaling levels. The UX and visual design of (some parts of) explorer.exe + resizing / moving windows around

Have you considered functional programming languages? Haskell if you like the modernity of Python, or alternatively Perl or even Fortran if you want it to be more "like math" (albeit with a bit of book reading to get your head around them, but one of them has a wizard on the cover at least)
