This article is actually kind of validating. On Reddit it seems like there are only two kinds of people - smug preppers who already stocked up in November, and normies who don't really understand or care that much. But yeah, so much of the stuff around us depends on global supply chains and 10-50+% tariffs on the entire world means we are so unbelievably cooked.

This morning I sat down and made a list of stuff and divided it into high, medium, and low priority tiers based on severity of expected price increase and effect on my quality of life if I have to skimp or go without. I'm planning to spend the next few months diverting money I would have been investing to aggressively buy the high and medium prio stuff. High prio for me is tech and health related stuff - laptop, headphones, masks, tea, vitamins/supplements - a lot of it directly or indirectly from China. Medium prio is basically hygiene products and work gear. Low prio is household items I'll pick up when I can. Today ended up being a good day for me to get a vacuum - guess where it was made? Vietnam and China ๐Ÿ˜…

the thing is, the US has pretty much always been a two-party state. after a term or two the other party will regain power, that's just the way it is. if the other guy winning will result in "catastrophe", what's the solution then? a one-party state? ๐Ÿค”

hmm yeah if all your tests are normal, it could be more of a circulation issue - Qigong exercises are really good for that - it's really easy and even 10 minutes feels great! (note: this is NOT related to the religious cult Falun Gong)

I've always been a really "cold" person and I recently found out that was hypothyroidism, so just spreading the word you're not actually supposed to be freezing all the time and if you are maybe get your thyroid checked

yeah I watch cdrama, I feel like compared to Western media the stories are more interesting, the messaging is more wholesome, and I really like the more subtle romance with plenty left to the imagination

yeah, I don't like sex scenes either but I'm not really sure why. maybe because it doesn't seem relatable. it also kinda seems like a cheap gimmick to maintain the audience's interest, like putting corn syrup in food for no reason. I did once see someone saying that younger people may be jaded from there being so much porn on the internet, and negatively associate movie sex scenes with that, which also makes sense to me.

when the Quinnipiac poll came out showing Biden at 25% favorability with voters under 35, I saw so many excuses from liberals:

  • young people are ageist
  • young people believe whatever they see on Tiktok
  • young people have a hard time discerning nuance (no really someone literally said this ๐Ÿ˜‚)

and a few days ago I saw a post from George Takei like, "young people need to learn that sometimes we vote for someone even if we don't like everything about them" as if he were telling a toddler to eat their peas. why are they so condescending?? and anyway, I did vote for Biden without liking everything about him, but now his issues have become too serious for me to turn a blind eye anymore

having lived in rural maine, yes the nature was beautiful but socially it was pretty depressing and impoverished, but not a lot happens there so an 80-person mass shooting - I'm both really surprised and not very surprised at the same time :/
