I had the rule of thumb, "if the US state department likes it, I don't." So if Putin felt like he had a good reason to oppose NATO and enter the Donbas region I was ready to believe him. I guess I was being uncritical in that sense. But it's not like I was going to materially support Russia in the endeavor or sing their praises for it anyway. Right at the outset I thought of it like sending people who don't want to fight into combat during Dark Souls 3 where the first flame is only embers. 2 nobodys nowhere fighting over nothing. So now I guess the question would be "how would I feel about Russia-Ukraine if Putin started the conflict because he was bored instead of a good reason?"

If I don't eat right and I do 2 BJJ classes the next day I feel like luffy-exhausted If you do 3 a days with a 10k run and strength training as well your body needs super powers to keep it up for an entire fight camp.

A variable that I don't think gets discussed and an uncomfortable part of this is that athletes who take PEDs have taken it upon themselves to do well with chemistry alongside their strong nutrition, sleep, and training before they still have to fight the same difficult fight of performing under pressure. It's an incredible thing to be a world class athlete.

I would have to say that it's the recency bias that bugs me more than anything. It seemed sophisticated enough for me. They had all the good instruments for a well-equipped laboratory. I would, of course, never play a game of "well at least America..." because it's the greater Satan.

I guess what bugs me is how ubiquitous it is/was. Intravenous injection of PEDs seems like such a hardcore thing and to have everyone just do it like they're taking their fish oil in the morning and then to have an elaborate plan to hide samples and produce false data is so alien. It's an inflamed sense of "everything is not as it appears"

I guess in my mind it was something like "If they're all lying through their teeth about doping in sports, I wonder how much of what Putin was saying about the context for the protection of the Donbas region was hot air and bullshit."

But again, my source is a documentary about sports? I didn't even make it through Putin's speech. I don't know.

There's this documentary that follows a guy who intends to take steroids for his amateur biking competition. He wants to show how easy it would be to test negative while taking PEDs. He needs to find someone who will test his urine and he gets in contact of Russia's anti-doping program director right before their whole program exposes its dope-injected ass in front of the world.

It paints Russia as this very negative, lying, corrupt place with this profoundly illegal and deeply ingrained PED abuse scandal.

I just feel like political illustrators are losing their touch. This is another one that's narratively "who cares?" until you make the face into a sneer and add little details to describe fire and shooting in NYC.

That anti-MLK one about the "peaceful" protest? Narrative coherence. Obviously it's bad and he wants to do more bad. Kelly's anti-polyamory one? Narrative incoherence. It requires little parents crying faces for polyamory to be bad.

So it's like you don't even have anything directly bad to say about the Mamdani otherwise you'd probably have led with that. It HAS to be "well, doing something good actually causes bad things to happen" and it just doesn't seem like that's a popular stance anymore. So you either make an eloquent, succinct, creative, and thoughtful metaphor for what it's like to swallow a poison pill WHICH WAS YOUR ORIGINAL CHARGE AS AN ARTIST or you just flounder around with pure symbolic, uninspired gesturing. You're exposing your ass if you can't show me at a glance WHY people thinking Mamdani is... le good! is... le bad! You're washed. You're boring. You're spinning your wheels. Did you mean if you give a mouse a cookie soon they'll want the state to wipe their ass? Do you think so little of New Yorkers' desire to affect local issues? Did you mean that you believe the Democrat, the unpopular Eric Adams, was doing good for New York? I didn't take you for a vote bloo guy. Are you hopeful they'll enact the good policies of the Republican candidate? Who? Do you just dislike his smile? You're better off using a tried and true meme format - there's even one with an F-slur about a dog. I honestly think you'd have been better off saving the trouble and photoshopping Mamdani onto a dog and calling it a day.

Call me a doubter. I think the official gamer party line is going to be "look at how glorious nippon and everybody else can create attractive female characters but Americoids creates these horrendous monsters"

Then they'll show a collage of eastern conference fictional characters and western conference fictional characters. Then they get to be racist and recruit to an alt-right pipeline. That way every 14 year old and 4chan can start calling their teacher the n word. This is a slam dunk if you're... le sith lord!

These are the people that tell you you're in an echo chamber.

I'm glad .ee is going away

We take any attempt to disrupt any part of an NFL game, including the halftime show, very seriously but don't really give a shit about the first amendment"

That disturbing the peace is doing so much heavy lifting from the sounds of it. If not that, why is a cop after him? Unless the 41 year old was really popping the fuck off and made the case as bad as can be then this seems like the case of a lifetime. Imagine how much money you could suck from the NFL for winning and doing a civil case.

calls someone a worm

purpleworm takes exception to it

pottery.

I apologize on their behalf, comparing that poster to a worm is an insult to perfectly fine, upstanding worms. I assume, even without investigation, that snakes and caterpillars are among them. I even know a worm who's a doctor (not a real doctor but he is an actual worm)
