I was referring to this:

I sometimes take a moment to point out the obvious flaws in pieces such as this one due to a vain hope that someone responsible for reporting on things involving numbers will one day see such complaints and be inspired to do better.

If you are going to complain about it, why not send the complaint to the people who are writing this stuff? You already wrote the comment, copy paste that to the feedback box. That way theres a 1% chance that someone reads it and learns from it. Just writing on Lemmy theres a 0.00001% chance for that.

But like you said, to each their own, I guess. If screaming to the void makes you feel better, go for it.

Whining on Lemmy is about as effective as writing your complaints on a piece of paper and storing them under your bed.

Have you considered sending feedback either to the reporter or the paper that the reporter works for?

I'll second what /u/unexposedhazard said. Switch anyway. I kept Ubuntu for a long time because I thought it was the easy option.. Changed to Debian at the beginning of the year and my god its so much better and not at all more difficult than Ubuntu.

Needs to tap phones with a real friend? I guess I'll never be able to use it then :D

Also, no android app..?

Also, also, it was not the first social media. Irc-galleria (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IRC-Galleria) and other were first :)

Luckily it seems to be making Europe and Canada stronger as well. Putin can weaken the US all he wants, but as long as Europe and Canada are not just standing around with their hands in their pockets, doing nothing, it wont benefit russia too much.

People really don't know when its appropriate to joke around. I guess the [serious] tag thing, that is (was?) in use in /r/askreddit should be thing here as well.

Well, there are places where it is illegal. EU for example.

But of course they get around that by advertising their "0.0%" beers etc.

He survived? They should let the bull in the hospital to finish the job

No. We are all jailed for attaching stickers on things.

Yeah I didn't mean to say that its been that bad forever. Its gotten worse in the last 10-15 years. But it started ages ago, back in the ancient times. I remember my 1987 Volkswagen had a buzzer if I had lights on when the ignition was off. That was a good thing to have tbh, especially back then. But now you get a warning bong just because you have a kilogram of apples on the back seat.

Yeah the beeps and bongs are not a new thing. Clarkson raged about it 20+ years ago. "I KNOW THE DOOR IS OPEN THERES A HUGE GAP NEXT TO ME"

Your argument is basically "nuh-uh!" and "conspiracy theory"

James plays PS1 games with a giant Kids Station controller, loses a tiny bit of his mind in the process.

My mouse wheel is fucked, I've used xinput set-button-map to disable the wheel but it doesn't work in everything. It works in browser, file manager etc but not in terminal, FreeTube etc.

Anyone have a suggestion on how to get it working universally? I've been thinking of opening the wheel and ripping some connections out, but I'd like to keep the mouse wheel button working.

Also, my monthly budget is -50€ so buying a new mouse is not currently something I can do.

Running Debian 13 with the xfce desktop. Machine is a gift from the ancient gods, compaq presario CQ61, marvel this magnificent beast.

I changed my theme to the Hercules 1982 theme. Its very nice, other than the colors are a bit off for my taste. I'd like to change those.

I managed to change the background color to what I wanted, by the cunning use of copypasting a part of a css tutorial thing. But turns out, copypasting doesn't work for everything. I'm a total newbie, I drive trucks for a living, I have no idea what I'm doing with these computing machine things lol.

Anyway, I'd like to change the text color and the title bar background color, the thing that has the Piefed logo, communities, explore, account and donate links. I tried looking for tutorials and such, but I think I'm looking for wrong things or maybe I'm just underestimating my own stupidity (very highly likely). Anyone wanna help me?
