I don't mean to imply this isn't bad, but hasn't the legal precedent for over a decade been that the president can order anyone killed in the interest of national security without any sort of judicial review? If they can just kill citizens with drone strikes then "citizenship" doesn't really mean that much.

I mean it would be bad if they deported him to South Africa. I wouldn't want to inflict him on them. They should deport him to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean instead.

Peaceful politics only work if they're backed up with the threat of extreme violence and/or economic harm. Idk why anyone would think otherwise.

Schweizer is about as left as it gets for high level analysis of the grocery industry unfortunately. He's supportive of the measure to be clear. Idk if he lives in NYC though.

Sanitation is key but it's surprisingly easy. The only sanitation issues I've ever had were from fermenting in places I definitely should not have had ferments going.

I'm not sure about makgeolli but a lot of commercial alcohol is treated and filtered to remove yeast and sediment which homebrewers usually aren't equipped to deal with as thoroughly. The yeast and sediment can severely worsen hangovers so be aware of that.

I've been off the grid for the last four days. What did I miss?

His municipal grocery stores should actually be armories for the revolutionary guard

Yeah huge numbers of the worst off workers already don't get shit for holidays and have to deal with everyone else's privilege on those days. The rational part of my brain doesn't want any working person to lose that benefit but part of me really couldn't give a shit. Especially so because any time I say "maybe everything should be closed on holidays, not just your job" to a white collar worker they act like I said we should ritually sacrifice their dog.

This is a threat to Iran but more importantly it's a threat to the US. Israel cannot sustain a prolonged conventional war with Iran. I'm not sure they could even win it if it went nuclear but I don't know enough about their arsenal or what the political reaction would be to say that. Only with direct US intervention could they win. The US doesn't want to get involved though because the US military is also not really capable of winning without sustaining casualties it doesn't want to.

In the long term, Israel nuking Iran would likely be much worse for the US than direct US intervention though. Firstly Iran would respond by destroying all of the oil infrastructure in West-aligned countries, significantly harming the global economy. Secondly the US Dollar would totally lose its supremacy in international politics to the nuclear umbrella. Thirdly Pakistan might start flinging nukes too and who knows how India, China, and Russia will respond to that.

Right now the US isn't figuring out how to attack Iran. They've been doing that for decades. They're trying to guess whether they should cave to Israel's threat or not.

It's their only play. Without US intervention, in a matter of weeks Tel Aviv would look like Gaza. They either nuke Iran to save themselves, destroying the international US led status quo since 1945 or the US keeps it conventional by bearing as much of the war as Israel wants it to.

Edit: and if Israel drops nukes I think the chances of Pakistan getting involved and possibly responding in kind skyrockets.
