Before this week, Bluesky did not have an automated system in place to prevent people from including the n-word in their handle..

And while Bluesky eventually dealt with the issue,

There were complaints so they patched the system. Again, another nothinburger... Always coming from the same poster.

“40 minutes after it was reported, the account was taken down, and the code that allowed this to occur was patched.”

Nothingburger. Stop spamming please. This has nothing to do with tech. You cannot just post anything you want and ask people to leave if they are not happy.

Didn’t you block me? Dude, find a new hobby. 🤨

Didn't you create your own sub to spam?

Don't flood defaults subs with irrelevant posts, this is not reddit here.

Create your own sub if you want to spam.

Stop harassing people, will you?

ELI5: This individual has been consistently tracking OP across multiple threads with the sole purpose of criticizing them.

Yeah this is the third comment chain with this nonsense I've seen. Dude needs to post their own articles/content, just block OP, or both.

[-] stopthatgirl7@kbin.social 7 points 1 year ago

Let me just block you since yours clearly didn’t take. Goodbye.

Haha, stopthatgirl7 upvoted you. I knew it. The oldest trick in the book!

Bye.

Didn't you create your own sub to spam?

You literally made a magazine to send me a 4 week ban message. Your entire trolling & toxicity is nothing but projection, just like your alleged rage voting. Maybe find something more worthwhile to do with yourself than harassing other people. It won't actually make you any less miserable.

It shows a lack of consideration and foresight.

[-] LoafyLemon@kbin.social 10 points 1 year ago

To be fair, Lemmy has the same problem, there are at least two trolls I've encountered with such username.

[-] hetscop@kbin.social 9 points 1 year ago

I think that the main thing this reveals about the bluesky admins is that they haven't thought that hard about harrasment, which is weird to not do if you're trying to launch a new social media platform.

If you already made Twitter you have no excuse

[-] klyde@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Blocking trashy, racist, etc is one of, if not the first thing that should be included and they couldn't even be bothered. Not giving me hope.

[-] stopthatgirl7@kbin.social 7 points 1 year ago

Apparently, making it so people couldn’t use the n-word in their user name just wasn’t a priority. But making it so you could get banned for using “cracker,” however, was.

[-] blunderworld@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 year ago

An unfortunate oversight, definitely. Acting like it was an intentionally malicious choice or that it makes bluesky so incompetent they should shut down is a huge reach, though.

[-] xc2215x@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Not a great look.

Can someone clarify for me: is Bluesky owned by Twitter and Elon Musk?

[-] phi1997@kbin.social 9 points 1 year ago

It's owned by Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter who sold Twitter to Elon Musk

Ok Dorsey doesn’t own Bluesky but Bluesky is apparently completely independent from Musk and Twitter which ultimately was all I was concerned with. Thank you.
