It's because Trump and Milei have the same boss.

What's everyone's opinion on LineageOS these days?

Sorry friend, my beef is not with you. I know there are good-hearted Americans down there who are just as frustrated with this shit show.

Good luck overthrowing your Dictator.

I 100% get that, but I personally don't think Trump or Hegseth are smart enough to pull off a military operation as complex as infiltrating Canada. To make matters worse (for them), many branches of the military seem to hate their guts.

That said, I'm just some pacifist dope with almost no knowledge of this stuff. If an expert out there wants to scare the shit out of me, I'm ready to learn.

Objection, Your Honour! This is speculation.

The less we have to do with the US at this point, the better. I understand it may not be feasible to cut ties completely, but let's keep it to the absolute bare minimum. I'm completely over their bullshit.

See, I'm torn. On one hand, I feel like this 'us vs. them' mentality contributes to the sort of tribalism that ultimately results in movements like MAGA popping up. If these people can only operate in MAGA-friendly spaces, they'll rarely speak to anyone who disagrees with them, and will have no reason to reflect on their worldview.

Then I read the news. If current events aren't enough to convince them that they're misguided, I'm not sure that anything will.

I'm not sure I know what the solution is, but it's been an interesting discussion.

That's fair, I can definitely understand that position and agree with you on the NK apologists.

From my point of view, I think it's more productive to interact with people I disagree with, in the (possibly naive) pursuit of changing their minds. If people are kicked out for their views, I'd imagine many of them will just double down and act like a martyr.

To be clear, I'm not saying we shouldn't call these people out and downvote them -- that's why that function exists right? But maybe once in a while, something that we argue will resonate with them.

Of course there are limits to that approach, and this all hinges on the other person arguing in good faith. Based on the OP's post history, I'll admit that I may be barking up the wrong tree in this case.

In what way did they troll me? Did somebody call them a fag or not? If so, I don't care what their justification was, that person is an asshole.

Man, I don't like MAGA either. I think they represent pretty much everything that's wrong with society today...

But for a community that talks so often about disliking echo chambers, it really seems like most Lemmy users want an echo chamber.

Anyone who has this strong of a reaction to something so inconsequential must be a deeply unhappy person. It sucks to suck.

Also, anyone who calls someone a 'fag' is a complete fucking moron. I doubt things will improve for them with so few brain cells to work with.

This is not intended as a political post, hopefully its allowed. What are some charities I can donate to that are reputable, and will use the proceeds to help civilians in Gaza?

I'm trying to move away from buying so many things online instead of supporting local. What are some local businesses you folks suggest? Where have you had a great customer experience in the HRM?

Restaurants suggestions and that sort of thing are welcome as well, but I'm mostly interested in finding local alternatives to online stores like Amazon and big chain stores like Walmart.

Foggy but kind of pretty too?

Voyager has been great so far - thanks for the great app. However, one issue I run into involved using voyager on desktop. Its perfectly usable, but the browser version looks a little awkward as the layout is cantered and narrow; typical for a mobile layout.

Just wondering if there are any plans to add a dedicated desktop layout, or else to add further appearance customization so that users can edit the layout to match their needs. The official lemmy web app is completely broken for me (no idea what changed) so this change is all I'd need to become a voyager user across all devices. Thanks!
