Sorry if this type of post isn't allowed, I got excited because Natalie's videos have been a pretty big part of my journey.

I fell out of watching Contrapoints when it went from 15-20 minute videos to extended length films.

Youtube Algo keeps pointing me towards smart trans women doing long-form topic deep dives. And yes, sometimes they're an hour or longer. But they're also dense with valid consideration.

As with Shaun or the rest of Breadtube, I just watch /listen ten to twenty minutes at a time as I'm doing chores.

Do you have recommendations?

Contrapoints, Dead Domain, Philosophy Tube, NominalNaomi (if you like debates)

Alice In Wonder1and for memes and stuff

To add on to that:

Lily Alexandre
Ricky Hirsch
ceicocat (only one that fits the bill so far, but I'll be watching her career with great interest)

Caelan Conrad isn't a trans woman, but they are non binary and one of my favorite youtubers

Same thing with thoughtslime. Mildred is genderfluid and uses any/all pronouns. They are another creator who I love and watch all their content.

Mia Mulder, Zoe Baker, Lily Alexandre, Jessie Gender

and The Leftist Cooks, if you'll pardon that the label (trans woman) is split amongst them

Sorry, its me, I'm the loser who's algorithm is pulling these creators towards spending the whole day with me I'm lonely

I get that but also I love what her content has become. I haven’t seen the new one but last year’s episode was excellent.

They’re a commitment now. It’s a movie that my wife and I plan a date around and discuss with our friends. I think she’s definitely in a new golden age of her content for those of us who like YouTube documentaries, an era that rivals her autogynephilia video.

I was reluctant to watch those at first, for the same reason, but at this point I enjoy making an evening of it.

This video is super long, and if you don't care about Twilight you probably won't like it. I made it like halfway through before I stopped caring. Some parts of it are still interesting, but most of it is just Twilight stuff.

(In case this matters, which I doubt it does but in the sake of honesty, I'm a straight cis man who generally likes her content.)

[-] dandelion@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 8 months ago

I thought a lot of the content of this video was excellent and could be seen as valuable and only tangentially related to Twilight, such as the psychoanalysis of romance tropes, or the explanation of the feminist sex wars.

[-] Cethin@lemmy.zip 2 points 8 months ago

For sure, but you have to get through a lot of Twilight stuff for it. I understand that was just the tool used to carry the message, but it was a large part of the video.

[-] dandelion@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 8 months ago

yes, sorry - I didn't mean to imply the video isn't also a lot about Twilight, haha; throughout even the tangents she regularly ties it back to Twilight, so it can still feel like you're watching three hours of Twilight content.
