In a statement announcing his resignation, DeWit said he had planned to fight to keep his job until Lake’s team gave him an ultimatum to resign or she would release another, more damaging recording.
“I am truly unsure of its contents, but considering our numerous past open conversations as friends, I have decided not to take the risk,” DeWit said.
Lake’s senior advisers, Garrett Ventry and Caroline Wren, said in a statement that “no one from the Kari Lake campaign threatened or blackmailed DeWit.”
So literally "I'm a bigger piece of shit than I can afford to let anyone know". The only surprise there is that he's not proud of it.
You make a good point--this is the first time in a long time that shame stopped a Republican from simply doing whatever they want. Really makes me wonder what she's got on him

Doesn't it just? They know their base will vote for known sex offenders and Russian assets, so it's difficult to figure for.
It might happen more than we hear about, at the lower levels, as these candidates don't have the same power levels as national figures
