It's the dunk tank.

This is where you come to post big-brained hot takes by chuds, libs, or even fellow leftists, and tear them to itty-bitty pieces with precision dunkstrikes.

Rule 1: All posts must include links to the subject matter, and no identifying information should be redacted.

Rule 2: If your source is a reactionary website, please use archive.is instead of linking directly.

Rule 3: No sectarianism.

Rule 4: TERF/SWERFs Not Welcome

Rule 5: No ableism of any kind (that includes stuff like libt*rd)

Rule 6: Do not post fellow hexbears.

Rule 7: Do not individually target other instances' admins or moderators.

Rule 8: The subject of a post cannot be low hanging fruit, that is comments/posts made by a private person that have low amount of upvotes/likes/views. Comments/Posts made on other instances that are accessible from hexbear are an exception to this. Posts that do not meet this requirement can be posted to !shitreactionariessay@lemmygrad.ml

Rule 9: if you post ironic rage bait im going to make a personal visit to your house to make sure you never make this mistake again

[shakes fist] why is the emoji named lenin-palace... it's a painting of a ~~red army soldier~~ Bolshevik revolutionary, not Lenin @WhyEssEff@hexbear.net

[–] HarryLime@hexbear.net 47 points 2 years ago (2 children)

His actions led to the end of the brutal Tsarist regime in Russia, so you have to give hm credit for that

[–] autismdragon@hexbear.net 40 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Yeah. Like the credit we give the guy who killed Hitler.

[–] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmygrad.ml 17 points 2 years ago (1 children)

But he also killed the guy who killed Hitler so it's a mixed bag.

They say the dude who headshotted Hitler did it no-scope, even.

[–] BeamBrain@hexbear.net 14 points 2 years ago

The USSR spent all of WW2 fighting the guy who killed Hitler. Horseshoe theory proven

[–] Collatz_problem@hexbear.net 29 points 2 years ago

He deserves the Order of the October Revolution for his relentless work against monarchy.

[–] SpiderFarmer@hexbear.net 41 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I can understand the lib mindframe that criticizes communism. What I can't understand is defending the people who were so bad, that the workers had to kill them and change governments. That's kind of a red flag outside of CIA coups.

Libs love their Great Man Theory and believe that everything was fine in Russia until the evil wizard Lenin hypnotized the hapless masses into overthrowing their rightful rulers.

It's like how they act as if the Holocaust sprang solely from the machinations of Hitler and wasn't the inevitable conclusion to terminal-stage capitalism architected by a capitalist ruling class seeking to preserve its own power and carried out with the aid of millions of willing collaborators.

until the evil wizard Lenin hypnotized the hapless masses

This is Rasputin erasure

[–] BeamBrain@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago

Anastasia is only a slightly exaggerated version of how libs view the Russian Revolution and I wish I were kidding.

[–] WeedReference420@hexbear.net 38 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Even if you're a monarchist dipshit he was a long fucking way from being the best Tsar lmao

[–] HumanBehaviorByBjork@hexbear.net 25 points 2 years ago

fascism is a loser ideology. for these guys he's the best because he was stabbed in the back by the forces of judeobolshevik liberal modernity. the fact that he probably could have done any number of things differently to avert revolution is not a mark against him.

[–] Dolores@hexbear.net 19 points 2 years ago (1 children)

like fr hype Alexander or Peter at least, who tf is this guy

[–] ExotiqueMatter@lemmygrad.ml 15 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yea for real they could have chosen the guy who literally beat Napoleon what a missed opportunity, but let’s be honest we all know why they picked this one instead.

[–] Dolores@hexbear.net 13 points 2 years ago

the appeal honestly alludes me. the guy who instigated revolt by being a dogshit, delusional administrator, or the guy who folded to a clique of useless liberals? which one is the guy these fascists are rooting for? because both are supremely unimpressive

[–] RamrodBaguette@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago

I guess it makes sense since the fact that one dipshit is all it takes to lose it all is yet another mark against monarchy (ignoring all the mistakes of the past couple of tsars which led up to his reign).

[–] Kaplya@hexbear.net 35 points 2 years ago (1 children)

first, I strongly suggest people here don’t get worked up over something randoms say on the internet. It’s not worth it. Join a book club or something, like the Capital reading group we’re currently having.

Second, if our monarchist friend insists, let them know that having your best fleet sailing half way across the globe for months just to be sunk by the Japanese in a single afternoon automatically puts whoever in charge of running the country into the loser category.

I mean, to he fair, its the dunk tank. Thats what this comm is for.

[–] Kaplya@hexbear.net 12 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Fair enough. I noticed that you’ve been trying to get yourself worked up by random internet posts lately. Hope you’re doing well, and feel free take a step back when needed.

[–] autismdragon@hexbear.net 17 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The stuff i post in the dunk tank doesnt really bother me. Thats just slop for the fun of dunking on slop.

If im actually upset i usually vent in the mega. But dont worry too much. Im fine.

[–] Mokey@hexbear.net 7 points 2 years ago

I agree with commenter too though, be careful with this stuff. Theres a certain type of brain poisoning you do when you indulge reading random dummies political takes.

[–] Collatz_problem@hexbear.net 31 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Monarchists who like Nicholas II is like communists who like Gorbachev (if they even exist at all).

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 21 points 2 years ago

Pizza Tankies

[–] kot@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I think this is different. Gorby was an anti-communist who rose to power through opportunism. He was very competent, it's just that he was a POS who wanted to tear things down for his own benefit and for his neoliberal friends.

Nicholas on the other hand was an incompetent buffoon. It would be more like idolizing a communist who really sucks at communism.

[–] SpiderFarmer@hexbear.net 7 points 2 years ago

So Gonzalo?

Revolutions do not occur in countries being managed well.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 5 points 2 years ago

"Yeah but, middle school said communism is bad. So everything BUT communism MUST be good."

[–] newmou@hexbear.net 21 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yeah I think he got a golden globe for that

[–] emizeko@hexbear.net 11 points 2 years ago

the Ricky Gervais of statesmen

[–] SoyViking@hexbear.net 15 points 2 years ago

I can see where he's coming from. The only good emperor is a dead emperor and Nicky ended up very, very dead.

[–] Vncredleader@hexbear.net 14 points 2 years ago

Trumps: Umm I prefer monarchs who don't get captured

[–] RoabeArt@hexbear.net 9 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Don't know how true it is but I've read that even by the standards of brutal monarchies of his time, Nicholas II was the worst.

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 5 points 2 years ago

There's a reason there's a legitimate discussion over whether or not murdering his children was the right move.

Not generally a sign of a good leader that there's a pretty compelling argument for wiping out the entire bloodline.
