Famously, soldiers have no use for time pieces, and keeping accurate time for strategies or anything especially back then in the analogue age.
Word. Afaik having an accurate time piece, at least for NCOs and officers, was literally life or death since they needed them to do any kind of coordination at a time when radios sucked or were rare and precious, or just couldn't keep up with an advance.
It wasn't until the post-911 Iraq-involved-war that generals stopped waiting for the enemy's army to show to shake hands and lay out the ground rules.

Afaik, in "Looting is against the laws of war" terms, stealing weapons and war materiel probably isn't the same thing as taking personal effects from corpses, or durable goods from homes.

I know it’s pretty illegal now, but there are forms and stuff you can fill out now to take certain stuff back home, but if it’s anything cool you can pretty much guarantee it’ll be denied or higher up will take it for themselves.

For what the Red Army did for the world and considering what ghe Nazis did to the Soviet people, every Soviet soldier should've had at least 30 watches strapped on them. They should've been wearing those watches like a Digimon. Every German should be legally mandated to mail a watch to the descendent of a Red Army soldier every year.

It might be a fun bit to do the due process concern trolling that liberals love to apply to everything from zionist war crimes to to victims of sexual harassment breaking the silence:

You can do one, then the other if you're trying to rile up libs. Tell them that the onus of proof is on them to prove that the wrist device in question is a stolen German watch. If they manage to do it via blurry photo forensics, just say "lol good I hope he got a lot of dead Nazi watches."

They did a video on "photo manipulation" that briefly says "hey the nazis did fucked up shit" and then proceeds to treat the Red Army as uniquely prone to doing SA. They then apologized in the comments for......referring to them as "the Russians" because other people in the USSR fought, but they framed it more like " we are sorry we invisiblized the poor Ukrainians who where coerced into fighting the Nazis. Like they still couldn't view there as being such a thing as "soviet people". Just Russians and other people dragged along even when complimenting them.
