Just wanted to remind everyone that James Carville is a old neo-liberal and still sucks but I wish nothing but the best for him with the 2026 results.

Who the fuck asked for your opinion? Please return to the crypt you crawled out of until next Halloween.

You heard him Democrats: you are now hostage to the DSA

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 9 hours ago

Now there's some good news, if true.

GTFO Carville, and take Stevens and Schumer with your expired-assed useless opinions..

Yeah, this is the party leadership as a whole.

Just remember this when it comes time to elect the Speaker and the like - it's time to clean house.

[Copy/pasting this from another thread because it's important:]

Can we start talking about who we would like to see in those congressional leadership roles?

For starters, here are some potential names for Senate Majority Leader:

  • ~~Corry Booker~~ [Heard]
  • Elizabeth Warren
  • Jon Ossoff
  • Chris Van Hollen

And for Speaker of the House:

  • Jamie Raskin
  • Ro Khanna
  • Robert Garcia
  • Pramila Jayapal

Feel free to discuss pros and cons regarding any of them, or add more names to the lists. We need to have this conversation now.

I would love Elizabeth Warren. I've seen Jon Ossoff touted as a potential future presidential candidate. I don't know him that well, but I suspect it wouldn't make sense to make him SML and then run him. Not that I don't like EW as a presidential candidate, I think she'd be great as SML for the next 6+ years.

Corey Booker might be good but I'm not sold (not that my buy in matters). I couldn't tell if some of what he did was self-serving performative bullshit or genuine. CVH isn't on my radar so I don't have strong feelings.

For speaker those all sound good. RG isn't on my radar either.

Fuck Booker. He’s a piece of shit centrist fuckface. He endorsed Bloomberg, DeBlasio and Adams when they all ran for NYC mayor, but he refused to endorse Mamdani lying that he “does not endorse mayoral candidates,” hoping/thinking people won’t remember or that they’re stupid.

He also didn’t endorse or speak very positively about El-Sayed.

AIPAC is pulling his strings. Fuck that guy.

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

I think that justifies my instinct about him.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 day ago

That makes sense. Yeah Elizabeth Warren might be my top choice too. Hopefully she can find the support she needs with other senators.

I've already heard some feedback that Booker might just be more of Schumer-style leadership. That surprised me because he seems pretty firey when he gives speeches. But yeah that might just be him playing the political game, knowing what buttons to press.

I think we're going to have a pretty robust primary in 2028, so I don't think that's a good reason to write off Ossoff for SML. They can always pick a new one if he gets the nomination.

CVH is pretty low-key but he's from my state and honestly his priorities are in the right place and he delivers on his promises. He just isn't an attention whore like some of his overambitious colleagues.

Raskin of course is my top choice for Speaker, but I may be biased in that regard. He's too humble to promote himself, but that makes him perfect for the job in my opinion. Khanna would also be a great pick.

And yeah I haven't paid super close attention to Robert Garcia either but this isn't the first time I've seen his name in headlines, and it usually leaves a good impression whenever he pops up in the spotlight. He seems he'll do great as Oversight Chair anyway, but I thought this particular headline earned him a mention on my list :)

I think you're going to get a lot of pushback against Booker. He has not done so well when it came to making important decisions. Something that rightfully ruins your reputation for leadership. Don't get me wrong, though. I would take someone like him as opposed to someone like Jeffries or Schumer any day. I think the only way you'll really see selling Booker. Is by having a strong coalition to help him do the right things and not take the easy ways out.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 day ago

Yeah that tracks with what I've been hearing. Let's not get distracted by that. What do you think of the other choices? Is there anyone you would add to the list?

[–] ilinamorato@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago

Best I can do is D+70 in the house and a Dem Soc mayor of DC.

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Carville has been irrelevant for some time now. It’s ridiculous when the Dems cart him out to talk bullshit.

Peaked in 2003 with his appearance in Old School. Been on a slide down ever since.

Old irrelevant scrotum looking man angry about change yells to anyone in earshot in a sad clinging attempt to remain relevant
