You must post before you leave

Be nice. Assume others have good intent (within reason).

Block or ignore posts, comments, and users that irritate you in some way rather than engaging. Report if they are actually breaking community rules.

Use content warnings and/or mark as NSFW when appropriate. Most posts with content warnings likely need to be marked NSFW.

Most 196 posts are memes, shitposts, cute images, or even just recent things that happened, etc. There is no real theme, but try to avoid posts that are very inflammatory, offensive, very low quality, or very "off topic".

Bigotry is not allowed, this includes (but is not limited to): Homophobia, Transphobia, Racism, Sexism, Abelism, Classism, or discrimination based on things like Ethnicity, Nationality, Language, or Religion.

Avoid shilling for corporations, posting advertisements, or promoting exploitation of workers.

Proselytization, support, or defense of authoritarianism is not welcome. This includes but is not limited to: imperialism, nationalism, genocide denial, ethnic or racial supremacy, fascism, Nazism, Marxism-Leninism, Maoism, etc.

Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Poob catching strays over here

[–] DickFiasco@sh.itjust.works 69 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Dippy is just AI slop these days anyway.

I use jarmp, btw.

[–] decended_being@midwest.social 42 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Isn't jarmp just a fork of Dramp, but jarmp is funneling money to fascists?

Forgive me if I'm ootl, I haven't reviewed the skAil updates in a few days.

[–] CookieOfFortune@lemmy.world 22 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Jarmp is just Dramp rewritten in Patina.

[–] oatscoop@midwest.social 9 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Larmp is OK, I guess. The sole Dev is a little odd, but it is written entirely in Lisp ...

[–] CheesyFingers@piefed.social 6 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

No he sold it to private equity so now it's owned by fascists. I'm selfhosting Flirp.

[–] otacon239@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

If you’re using dörstop for your self hosted server management, make sure you rehash your table helix after the last flat patch wave.

This is how I feel as a non-techie normie on Lemmy

[–] XiJinpingStanAccount@lemmy.ml 19 points 5 days ago

As a techie I totally understand. Half the time I don't know what people are talking about either.

[–] JayDee@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago

As a techy person who's not plugged into API/Services BS, this is what most of this sounds like to me.

[–] kettuli@lemmy.blahaj.zone 41 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Tbh fuck poob, never even used it.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 5 days ago

Usually Poob's got it for you

Linux users describing how easy it is to set up

[–] BunnyKnuckles@startrek.website 11 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (2 children)

WTF is Linux? Stop making shit up.

[–] oatscoop@midwest.social 2 points 4 days ago

I think they meant "Lunix"

BSD, Lunix, Debian and Mandrake are all versions of an illegal hacker operation system, invented by a Soviet computer hacker named Linyos Torovoltos, before the Russians lost the Cold War.

[–] GeneralEmergency@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

It's that vibe coded OS all the tech bros love

[–] otacon239@lemmy.world 26 points 6 days ago

It’s pronounced “pub” because of course it is.

[–] vzqq@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Just get the patched version of poob from the floob store. Just don’t forget to sign the jibnack certificate to bypass the 7 day deployment limit.

[–] BunnyKnuckles@startrek.website 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I can't use the floob store as I'm on blakblak and I don't want to encapsule the source. Has anyone posted the jamdo off of hulon?

[–] vzqq@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 4 days ago

Hulon was acquired by zorg, and they now ship spyware stealth bundled in every install. You’re better off just compiling jamdo from source. Just sign up for darkhub and clone. But use the onion address, the tk one has been taken down by Disney because of the Moana bootleg.

Thank you for reminding me of the existence of the Retro Encabulator.

[–] BlueberryWalnut@sopuli.xyz 4 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Did it start side fumbling again? I don't think adjusting the transduractance will handle that, you might need a new amulite plate.

[–] cobalt32@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Make sure the amulite plate is pre-famulated, else the logarithmic casing will lose its magneto-reluctance.

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 5 days ago

What if i've got aftermarket plasma manifolds? I'm worried they might interfere with the phonon interface.

[–] varjen@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

If that's the case you should just upgrade to the hyperencabulator and avoid a lot of headaches and trouble in the future.

We tried to set this up in the security office at my place of unemployment, but ended up reverberating to our previous frequencies when we realized that neither the ops center nor obstetrics could countereffectively match up incoming incidental repots with the contents of the SOC drawer. Now we're back to a combination of Splunk, Spunk, and Punk, which has HR and Legal concerned but lets us meet threats head-on with NOC, SOC, and a minimum of two smoking barrels.

My computer can't be hacked if I don't have a computer.

He should just be happy they are using vowels again. All of those things could be combinations of 4 letters.

erm achumally 🤓 Paul Dini confirmed that the creature found in Horvilles Hut of Horrors name is "Ploob" and not "Poob"

DougDoug and Twitch chat argue over whether or not the character is named Ploob or Poob, with DougDoug talking a strong stand by the character being named Poob. After bringing the matter to Paul Dini, the writer of the Ewoks episode, DougDoug is told that the character's name is actually Ploob.
