Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on. Keep on-topic

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

It's funny that conservatives are all about "law and order" and then they'll happily break the law (fleeing Brazil illegally) when it serves them

[–] Freeposity@lemmy.world 11 points 5 days ago

That's because "law and order" is a dog whistle for beat down the minorities.

It's funny that the US government complains about other countries interfering in their elections considering they're treating this guy like a failed CIA agent

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 3 points 5 days ago

Their law and order, not yours.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Their “Law and Order” is just steal shit and silence critics.

The statment has nothing to do with actual laws and civil order, it’s an outright lie as much as it is a completely throwaway term as far as actual law goes. Words to pacify the gullible, the pearl-clutchers, and excite the brutes.

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

When they say law and order, they really mean racial order.

[–] ennof@feddit.org 2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

They say they are about law and order but oftentimes aren't.

These fascist criminal fucks are not welcome here. Refuse them service, and don't give them a moments peace.

Deport Bolsonaro

[–] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 11 points 5 days ago (2 children)

.....you think the criminal ez-president of Brazil is going to just stroll around town, frequenting businesses?

That man is in the USA for protection.

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 5 points 5 days ago

He always take this disgusting pictures eating to show that he's "a normal everyday guy like you".

[–] Freeposity@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

No, he's under house arrest in Brazil. You are confusing Jair Bolsonaro, the ex-president with Flavio Bolsonaro, his son and failed presidential candidate who fled to Miami. His criminal brother, Eduardo, fled to the US a while back to avoid the law and was convicted in absentia.

So we have two high profile criminals who the US is protecting because our criminal government protects other ruling criminals in the global crime syndicate.

The father, Jair, also left the country after losing at 2022, but at that time he was the president, and his term would still last for the rest of the year, so he stayed until the final days of his term, taking a plane to USA at December 29th.

Which is why at the next year, Lula received the presidential sash from civilians (the tradition was for the previous president to do it).

After a few months, Jair decided to come back to Brasil when he thought Lula was vulnerable and he could lead the opposition. But he was judged and condemned for the January 8th stuff and his plan to murder Lula, and then, he got arrested. Resulting in his son, Flavio, having to run for presidency in his place, with the goal of freeing him.

He is your problem now! He even lost his brazilian passport (he still has an Italian one which is how he escaped apparently), so send him to Italy maybe?

[–] Ooops@feddit.org 6 points 5 days ago

But Italy already has their own domestic neo-fascist is government.

[–] AccoSpoot1@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago

Don't the Nazis usually flee to South America?

[–] rocci@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Didn't his passport get revoked? How did he leave the country without a passport?

[–] dsilverz@catodon.rocks 13 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

He has both the Brazilian passport and (iirc) Italian passport. Polícia Federal (our FBI equivalent) very likely blocked his Brazilian passport electronically (as it's emitted by Polícia Federal themselves), but given they don't have jurisdiction over passports emitted by other nations, PF gave 24 hours for Flávio Bolsonaro to hand over and surrender his passport, something he didn't. This passport is likely the one which is going to get Donald Dump's visa.

As a native English speaker hopefully helping a Portuguese speaker, I want to note that "emitido" is translated as "issued" in this case, emitted doesn't make sense for a government department doing this in english.

[–] dsilverz@catodon.rocks 2 points 5 days ago

Oh, thank you so much! Yep; I was thinking of the Portuguese word "emitido" back when I was composing my earlier comment, and despite the fact I already knew the English word "issued", oftentimes my chaotic mind ends up with false cognates (plus, the word "issue" doesn't help as having differing meanings as a noun ("the issues" = problems) and as a verb, lol), so, again, thanks!

I edited my comment, also updating what's now known as factual (Flávio Bolsonaro did leave Brazil and is currently in Miami, with lots of ongoing coverage from press), although I'm not sure if my edit will be seen by Lemmy instances (my past attempts on editing comments weren't recognized by Lemmy, very likely because I use a Misskey fork).

[–] MrNobody@quokk.au 8 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

You keep creating them around the world. It’s o my far you have to have them after their usefulness is up.

[–] kurmudgeon@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Well, with any luck, the next president of the United States might be a Democrat who will then revoke the visas and send his ass back to Brazil. I mean, we can't have these illegals running around can we?

[–] badgermurphy@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Especially a federal criminal! "Theyre not sending their best."

[–] KC_Royalz@lemmy.world 12 points 5 days ago

We should call ice and send a tip. No passport

He will title himself "President in Exile", and Trump will install him Venezuela-style as a puppet dictator.
