I would start by asking Congress to severely limit my executive order power. When they refuse, because that would be them doing their jobs, I would start making orders removing them from office for not doing their jobs. I'm sure things will pick up pretty quickly then, but I still have some time.

Probably talk to the governors of states to do it via amendment, just to really solidify it. Full wording and scope to be determined, but limiting power is the goal.

Then I would urge the DOJ to get the 1929 law that limits Congress size nullified, and figure out how to let Congress people work from home more often.

By that point, the limits of my power should be more constrained, but if the wheels of bureaucracy grind slowly, I'll find more things I'm sure.

I love that in your idea of reality the president’s power grabs would be stopped by system

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 4 days ago

For me the point would be to tell them I'm going to keep grabbing power until they stop me. Give them the steps, as much as I can to help them stop me, and if they don't, maybe their replacement will, as I will remove them from office, power grabbing and all.

Worst case for me is that I become the villain, and everyone gets healthcare and other safety nets.

I'd ban comma splices. I hate them so much.

I think you probably meant this as a reply to someone but it's to the main post.

[–] Zensate@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

I shall rectify immediately

If you get to that position and pet peeves are the first thing you're thinking about you will have proven the Peter Principle correct. Again.

[–] Zensate@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Has it ever been proven wrong?

If you can't follow right of way rules while driving you will lose your license and be executed

But isn't no capitalization a feature of the english language? As a german i say:

Da kann Ich nur drüber lachen, Groß- und Kleinschreibung in der englischen Sprache ist ein guter Witz.

i dont know you tell me if you want to read this all day i sure dont

They're saying it's a matter of perspective. From a German speaking perspective, if you used your "proper" capitalisation it would be lacking according to their "proper" capitalisation. Example:

I can only laugh about it, Upper and Lower case in the english Language is a good Joke.

[–] Starchildjohn@leminal.space 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I woke up and chose violence, this is a good explanation sir.

Thank you, ma'am. I haven't properly woke up yet, I'm sure my violence will come...

So German's don't have rules for proper punctuation and capitalisation?

[–] kindnesskills@literature.cafe 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Yes, they do. The rules are just different from yours.

[–] Zensate@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Then the equivalent here would be what German feels when people do the opposite of the rules

[–] Starchildjohn@leminal.space 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I made a joke about German having way more rules about capital letters than English. In German every noun is written with capital letters, every start of a sentence, every verb that takes on the propertys of a noun and every name. Since english uses way less capital letters i thought it would be funny to joke about how english is lacking in that department.
