What would you like to see for the future of this sub / community?

Unfortunately, the listed mod here is long gone, and there's no one contributing Nathan's comics here, anymore. Which is a damn shame IMO, because they're pretty great, and are also like a... self-examination of what it means to be human, via seeing ourselves via alien eyes? Haha, something like that, anyway.

Unfortunately, my hands are full with my own project, and I'm modding a couple more, and yes, contributing to a dozen others (most of them history-related). So I'm sorry folks, but I personally can't take on this sublemmy on top of everything else. I really wish I could, I'm sincerely sorry, and... bah. Godammit.

Still, should we just let this place die out, though? I feel like that's not something we should collectively want.

Any ideas, folks?

Howabout a daily bot? Like an rss feed.

+1, get a bot to do it

And sticky a post about his beliefs

I would appreciate an illumination on Pyle's beliefs. Is there something I'm missing?

I appreciate the link. Your comment was higher in the stack than that one, so I read yours, then got the context after posting. Hence, my edit.

sublemmy

Community! That’s what the c is for. Not related to Reddit stuff at all.

Pyle is not making this comic any more, is he? Seems like that's the end of a comic related community, unless I'm missing something. It was fun while it lasted though. Thanks for moderating.

Making a TV show with Dan Harmon seems to have broken his desire to make the cartoon.

The TV show didn't turn out well. The premise wasn't quite there. Also it was made for Apple TV, and everything they do seems to have a clear coated gloss bevel on it, that makes it difficult to feel or connect with.

Oh, fuck me then.

Is Pyle really such a weirdo upon such right-wing bullshit?

Oh boy... I really put my foot in to this one, didn't I. 😅

That article is from 2019 and seems to be focused on a single tweet saying he was pro-life. That's not my particular view, but hardly a reason to think he's a weirdo or stop reading his comics. He doesn't seem to be very outspoken about it.

From the article:

"My wife Taylor and I have private beliefs as they pertain to our Christian faith," Pyle said in a statement posted to his personal Twitter account. "We also believe separation of church and state is crucial to our nation flourishing. Our votes go toward the Democratic Party."

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

This seems entirely reasonable

By saying he has private beliefs, perhaps he is saying that he doesn't believe in abortion personally yet doesn't want to project his personal views onto others across the country.

I like him for saying this. I have my own less-than-enlightened cagey views on some hot topics, but I try not to let them oppress people and ultimately believe in the freedoms of all people to choose their own path through life

I guess so. Good point.

Godammit... this sucks.

I wanted to try to revive a very good comic series, and... I don't know what to think at this point. Just... fuck.

Tragedy: a person you don’t even know has slightly different beliefs than you. What will we ever dooo?

PLEASE. Yeah, just fuck off with that take.

Please. Is that what you learned from the school of OUTRAGE and shit-stirring, is that it..?

Seems like a good take honestly. Opinions can stay opinions without making policy.

I mean, they're slightly different if you squint. Pro life is just patriarchal oppression by another name. I can 200% support their faith and despise that it is eroding the rights of half of the people in several countries

I think the usual workflow is to contact the administrators of the insurance and request transfer of the sub to another group of mods. Which we'd need to find.

[–] JohnnyEnzyme@piefed.social 3 points 4 days ago

Yeap.
And it seems like it would be such a pleasant situation, right?

I mean, we all love Nathan's comics... you'd barely have to do anything as a mod but just share an occasional comic when there was a dry spell.

Ask me how I know. 😁

[–] Cellery@quokk.au 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Maybe suggest Nathan take over.

Nah mate, this whole thing is just a fan project at best.

It's either one of us or it just dies, real talk.
