Democratic leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives have condemned a raid on Rep. Ilhan Omar's home as "deeply disturbing" and accused the Trump administration of a "rogue abuse of power" just weeks ahead of November's midterm elections.

Let's see if they do anything besides strong words and maybe some paddles.

If you need any sign that the Democrats in power are just as bad, just as complicit, then take a look at their reaponse...

Nothing but words.

[–] DrDickHandler@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

Half of the Democrats (the AIPAC Funded ones), were probably happy to see this raid conducted.

This is a pretty serious escalation. We all knew it was coming, so I'm not going to act surprised. But let's all take a moment just to acknowledge how serious it is that a sitting president just had his DOJ (or DHS, whoever it was) raid the home of a political opponent without probable cause, any evidence or reasonable suspicion of wrongdoing, and presumably no warrant.

Like we knew he was on a hitler kick, but this now so close to the midterms is just... well, very hitler of him...

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They had a warrant supposedly, so some judge signed off on this too.

[–] ViceroTempus@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago

Yup, the rot isn't only at the top. It's in the system too, and will need to be excised accordingly.

[–] I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Oh they're really upset, very serious finger wagging. We might even get up to "sternly worded letter" levels of anger.

A precursor to arresting all MAGA's political enemies and publicly executing them. But I've been told that can't possibly happen because then there'd be riots and civil war.

[–] Smaile@lemmy.ca 30 points 3 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (5 children)

Thats all you weak fuckers do, condemn this, condemn that, when are you fucking spineless losers actually going to persecute anyone over their crimes.

[–] tangosox@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

If you want them to do something, give them enough power to by voting for them. They aren't in control of any of the branches of government so wtf do you want them to do? If they act outside the law they are literally just like any of the rest of us and are just giving the Republicans ammunition to use against them.

It's weird to me that so many people are still convinced there is a peaceful way out of fascism. There can be no peace while conservatives continue to infest our nation. They need to be completely removed before we will find any amount of peace. Conservatives are truly, deeply evil and cannot stop harming everyone around them. They must be forcibly stopped or they will only get worse.

[–] kent_eh@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago

It's weird to me that so many people are still convinced there is a peaceful way out of fascism.

That'll happen when you stop teaching people history.

Fascists love the poorly educated.

[–] glitchdx@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

This won't stop me from voting in the upcoming midterms, but I'm of the opinion that the last presidential election was The Last Election, in that I mean the last one that could have mattered. People refused to vote against genocide at home because of genocide on the other side of the world (or so they said).

So yeah. Forceful removal of fascists is the only way forward left.

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Do you mean authoritarianism or fascism specifically? I mean look at Orban's Hungary for a mostly non-violent way out.

[–] Yuccagnocchiyaki@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago (4 children)

Then you don't understand what is actually happening. Just getting trump out of office is not enough. There need to be expedited, quick trials and immediate punishment for the pedophilia and treason that has been livestreamed in 4k for the last decade.

Viktor orban is free. There are some more show trials but even his rival that "defeated" him says "the courts must decide".

What do you think will happen in our country?

Everyone has been primed for quick and happy acceptance of fascism. We were given an illusion of choice. Descend into techno fascism through physical violence, or administrative means. Either way, the people behind all of the issues here will not face time and are already funding Democrats (Thiel).

People will be so happy that trump is gone and they won't even remember about flock cameras, employers monitoring your own body heat and emf frequencies to "know your mood". We will not get any money back from the tarriffs. Prices will not go back down to anything substantial. They will be so distracted by the judge Judy like committee hearings and "special prosecutors" that will be "so close" to convicting anyone meaningful

And you will all cheer

Oh no funds Trumps funding Bill again

[–] CalemitousVariantK@lemmy.world 19 points 3 days ago

When then midterm is done, if the democrats win, the head of DHS (Markwayne Mullin) should be hauled in for contempt of Congress, then thrown in jail. Every agent involved should be put on a list of people unemployable in America and their contacts all investigated and any hint of foreign influence should turn this into treason and conspiracy charges for every last one. It seems we're paying for a firing squad and money is tight, so let's get our value out.

I get that this won't happen, but if Democrats need to compromise, let's start negotiations from this position.

[–] sportsjorts@lemmy.zip 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Condem….. fucking start arresting people!

[–] glitchdx@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The people who would be doing the arresting are the ones committing the atrocities.

[–] Yuccagnocchiyaki@lemmy.world 14 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

People don't even remember the MN Democrats that were ASSASSINATED by MAGA (including the "concerned" Democrats that everyone wants to vote for)

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Fuck I did completely forget that. We're definitely in the "Factors Leading Up To" part of the wikipedia entry now.

ICE is going to kidnap her and she's going to be deported... it's all part of the plan.

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 61 points 4 days ago (5 children)

They've just announced their 1st public execution. I have a feeling this is going to become an expanding trend.

Democrats SLAM Mister Drumpf for illegal deportation of sitting US Congresswoman

[–] zjti8eit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago

I mean, just like an assassination attempt on Trump upped his poll numbers, I suspect the same for Rep. Omar here.

[–] offconstantly@lemmy.zip 29 points 4 days ago

Imagine a political party that deposes and defames a former federal special counsel by condemning subpoenas for republican members of congress toll records and then crickets* when a democratic congresswoman’s home is invaded and searched. All while saying the former was partisan tactics due to the proximity of charges filed to the elections but again, not a peep about the latter.
