MODERATORS

Democratic leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives have condemned a raid on Rep. Ilhan Omar's home as "deeply disturbing" and accused the Trump administration of a "rogue abuse of power" just weeks ahead of November's midterm elections.

Let's see if they do anything besides strong words and maybe some paddles.

ICE is going to kidnap her and she's going to be deported... it's all part of the plan.

They've just announced their 1st public execution. I have a feeling this is going to become an expanding trend.

I didn't doubt you, but fucking ew.

People are comparing it to the live broadcast execution from the incompetent fascist government in the Starship Troopers movie. I called it "somewhere between clockwork orange and running man".

I don't know what that means, but it's so vile from a human rights perspective. I keep forgetting that the U.S. still does executions. Baffling how the U.S. has posed themselves as the "leader of the free world", and how many just willingly suck that up for so long when they are brutal, cruel, and inhumane in all aspects of living.

More like "disappeared". I hope not.

Yeah that would be another major escalation in the ongoing constitutional crisis. It's one more bizarre take from Republicans. They would have lost their minds if Obama went after a member of congress. I will say this for the current administration, though, they're doing a fantastic job of highlighting improvement opportunities for the Constitution. If the country miraculously pulls itself together enough to pass any kind of amendments at all, but especially one limiting executive powers, they should definitely be named after the person whose kind of behavior it's trying to limit. I know they're just numbered. I mean a name like "The Bill of Rights," which describes the first ten amendments.

"The Agenda of Executing Trumpists", perhaps?

Get this, they're already trying to create justification: Donald Trump has repeated the false claim that Ilhan Omar married her own brother to abuse the greencard system, despite the fact that the rumour started on a blog in 2016 from some random guy in Minnesota and has never resulted in any evidence.

I feel like if there was a shred of plausibility to this outrageous and infantile claim that it wouldn't take over 10 years to find anything even when the admin deeply despised her for 6 of those years.

According to Omar, she and her family fled the Somalian civil war in 1991. They moved to the U.S. in 1995 after residing for four years in a Kenyan refugee camp. Omar's mother had died, so her father and grandfather raised her and her siblings. In 2018, Omar showed a reporter from the Minneapolis Star Tribune photos of documents from her family's entry into the U.S. after fleeing the civil war. She did not provide the reporter with copies of these papers but showed that they listed her father and showed her as the youngest of seven children. There was no one named Ahmed Nur Said Elmi listed in the documents.

We previously noted that Omar and her siblings all arrived in U.S. with refugee statuses. Omar was a minor when she became a naturalized U.S. citizen. How one sibling could end up with a completely different immigration status from the others remains unexplained by the claims.

"Deported" is just code for murdered these days.

If you get sent to a third world country you have no affiliation with, you're already dead. It's not like they're getting sent anywhere safe.

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca 1 points 6 days ago

Yep. I said this earlier. She’s going to be removed from the country.

It's a good plan
