At least you know they aren't using AI. Anyways, boneappletea.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 26 points 1 week ago

Probably voice to text though eh.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 week ago (2 children)

The only way to outsmart AI is to use idioms incorrectly.

Until the AI figures out this little trick. Then we all just talk like we’re stupid.

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 19 points 1 week ago (3 children)

You're preaching to the horse's mouth

[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Pretty sure it's horse's choir.

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

In Wales, it's preaching to the horse's collar.

No, like the wales in corduroy pants!

When they make that whiffing noise, that's your legs telling you that you're getting exercise, and exercise is good for you, so you're hearing agreement.

"Artificial intelligence" finally makes sense. We artificially dumb down our own human output to evade AI, artificially inflating how intelligent it seems.

[–] SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org 51 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's even taught in kindergarten, the famous "Head, shoulders, knee to nose" basis.

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 9 points 1 week ago

Teach em early how to deal with Nazis. I approve!

[–] 4am@lemmy.zip 37 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Everyone knows it’s β€œneedle-nose basis”

[–] SparroHawc@piefed.world 27 points 1 week ago

As in, if you ask, we are going to apply our knee to your nose.

[–] grimdeter@lemmy.ml 17 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Not a native speaker, what should be the original/right version?

[–] cryptiod137@lemmy.world 41 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It would be "on a need to know basis"

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 week ago (4 children)

I’m guessing this supposed HR person is also not a native speaker.

[–] deadalus@discuss.tchncs.de 33 points 1 week ago (2 children)

With how many native speakers still mess up your and you're, and especially "should of" instead of should've, I would actually wager theyre a native speaker

[–] Varpeggio@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Also, plurals being possesified. For example, ACHs v. ACH’s.

Drives me fucking insane.

[–] deadalus@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 1 week ago

That's the same in German, drives me nuts

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

Dates are a conundrum.

Is it "the 1980s" or "the 1980's ?"

[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Just forget the contraction and right "should have". When pronounced correctly it sounds nothing like 'of'.

[–] treesquid@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)
[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Yep. Sure borked that.

[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

I wouldn't guess that at all.

[–] blackshirt@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

May be auto correct, or speach to text

[–] CalypsoGirl@lemmy.today 3 points 1 week ago
[–] StabbingSky@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago

Or they use STT instead of typing and don't proofread their emails.

[–] MissJinx@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's why I don't care if I make mistakes in english. It's not my native language and I make far fewer mistakes than some americans lol

[–] myyass@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I have to make sure I don't write in a different word order sigh.

[–] mycodesucks@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

Congrats, buddy - that's the worst anyone's ever done it.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The best one I heard was "Hull in a blue" but alI also like "Moo point"

[–] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

"Moo point" might be an intentional eggcorn meant to reference to Friends. Joey famously calls it a "moo point" and justifies is by saying that it is "Like a cow's opinion. It doesn't matter. It's moo."

And, "hull in a blue" isn't a true eggcorn because it doesn't technically make logical sense in context... but, to be fair, it makes exactly as much sense as "hullabaloo" does, so...

[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I often see 'mute point' for 'moot point'

[–] blargh513@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

My boss says this. He's a c-suite exec. Nobody corrects him.

Very specific puisments for improper disclosure written in

[–] tigermountain@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

I'm just waiting for lots of stuff like this to get sucked into AI training data so then AI will begin to respond like this.
