Official Title of this Community: Ethnic Minorities and People of Color

Why is the title different?

We like to have fun here.

What is this place? A safe space for underrepresented peoples and peoples of color to talk, chill, and vibe.

What are the basic rules of the community?

  1. Follow Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines. Non negotiable. This is the bedrock and mods will make decisions with this always in mind.

  2. This community is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This is a safe space where such people can freely discuss their struggles, insight, and thoughts without fear. If you are not, we respectfully ask you do not post or comment here. A future community will be established to allow for racial discussions with a mixed userbase. However, remember, comments here must still respect Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines.

  3. Irony Racism is still racism. Racism is bad m'kay? We will treat irony racism and bad faith racist satire as racism. Will wield the ban hammer accordingly.

  4. No sectarianism: This is an identity channel not a channel for you all to complain about why XYZ isn't the "one true leftism". Take that to another place.

  5. Stupidpol is not allowed. Stupidpol is class reductionist. We are an identity community. Thinking like stupidpol ignores the struggles of the oppressed, their voices, and their need for unique support. Nothing says oppression more than someone saying that the identity you have is "not real" and that if you only thought like them you'd see what your "real" identity is. Mods reserve the right to ban users and content who promote stupidpol, stupidpol memes, and other class reductionist thinking.

FAQ

On this day in 1838, the first major group of Cherokee, more than 12,000 people, were forced out of Tennessee, traveling westward from the town of Red Clay. A Choctaw leader called the forced deportations "a trail of tears and death".

The Trail of Tears was the cumulative result of a series of forced relocations of approximately 60,000-100,000 Native Americans in the United States from their ancestral homelands in the southeast to areas west of the Mississippi River that had been designated as "Indian Territory".

In 1837-38, President Martin Van Buren allowed Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Alabama, using an armed force of 7,000 people, to relocate about 13,000 Cherokees to Cleveland, Tennessee. On October 1st, 1838, the first major group of Cherokee, more than 12,000 people in hundreds of covered wagons, were forced out of Tennessee, traveling westward from the town of Red Clay.

Taking the journey through an unusually cold winter, they suffered terribly from exposure, disease, and starvation, killing several thousand people while en route to their new designated reserve. They were also attacked by locals and economically exploited - starving Indians were charged a dollar a head, equal to $24.01 today, to cross the Ohio River, which typically charged twelve cents, equal to $2.88 today.

I hope you nerds have a good month of October cuddle

I can't believe I recorded the raw audio for 3 of those 4 audiobooks throughout this time, especially since my sickness still lingered and I had sinus issues throughout. Good lord.

I'm about to finish #4. I have to submit everything by the end of the day today, and I think I got this!

After all of the raw audios recorded, some production, and simply submitting the files and we're good to go!

I feel genuinely impressed with my resilience through this shit!

So is the whole of the US left just gonna ignore the fact Trump called for a pogrom against Somali immigrants today, it's been hours, hasn't been a peep about it here on lemmy or on many other left spaces online

President Trump said Thursday that Minnesotans should “fight back” against Somali immigrants following previous attacks against the group.

“The once Great State of Minnesota is being taken over by Somali Immigrants. There is Violence, Murder, and Mayhem all over the State,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “The people of Minnesota must fight back.” https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/6138039-trump-somali-immigrants-minnesota/

[–] thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net 13 points 17 hours ago

the US left stopped caring about migrants a long time ago

Checked in on Ziohran Copdani’s recent activities. He seems to be on a mission to make Obama look like a revolutionary.

I guess that last Lemmygrad post about Zionism really burned me emotionally. There’s really nowhere to go to get away from it huh?

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 19 points 1 day ago

Where there are whites there is Zionism, and where there are white “leftists” there is Zionism with woke window dressing

Happy (well , bittersweet) Death to iϟϟntreal Day.  3 years of massively accelerated genocide and mass-murder should prove that that glorified military base must be abolished.

"I hate everyone equally" - a racist

A racist who doesn't hate himself enough

I've bee thinking about how fighting the reactionary in the global south is unreasonable, they can pop up anywhere and everywhere heavily funded, anyone that doesn't want to go hungry can betray their people and get millions. And the primary enemy is cosy at home while brown and black people kill each other.

My point being is that you need to make it too expensive for the global north to run operations in the global south while protecting the interest of allied countries.

I know some will say to read more theory but there's decades of theory that I'm still trying to churn through

Unequal exchange means the CIA can just fund their assets for decades with less than 5M USD.

[–] WhiteDNI@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago

I was thinking about dealing with hard assets that are hard to replace, like rigs, and bolsters even if it's pennies for them it would take months to years to build the infrastructure again, same with engineers and technicians, making other countries on the periphery a more attractive investment.

So I decided to look into Global News' coverage of france-cool student unrest, and made the mistake of looking into the comment section - and oh boy the typical anti-migrant (specifically against West Asian and North African students), pro-repressive comments come out. I don't know what I was thinking looking into a reactionary, possibly botted section

frothingfash in there

The other thing I'll say is this - have they seen what a typical French manif looks like? Ofc there's gonna be violence.

With almost all votes counted all I can say is all the strength and resilience to Cuba and Nicaragua. The eye of sauron is now fully locked into them.

"🇧🇷 Michelle Bolsonaro elected senator for the Federal District

The former First Lady secured 28.98 percent of the vote in the Federal District and will hold an elected office for the first time, serving an eight-year term." - Al-Mayadeen

While Bozonaro has fallen from the 50%, almost 90% votes have been counted and hes leadeing by 5 million votes or around 4%. Seems us intervention might have won this time, death to the usa death to israel death to all the west.

Chat, there’s a controversial discussion on Lemmygrad about Jews and Zionism. Check out this post... I’m not sure what to think

What do you think?

[–] 3rdWorldCommieCat@hexbear.net 13 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Most comments I saw seem to be going "I get it BUT-" so nah it's just the same old.

[–] 3rdWorldCommieCat@hexbear.net 15 points 5 days ago (2 children)

The op is also jewish and this is their banner so make of that what you will.

[–] puppygirlpets@hexbear.net 15 points 5 days ago (2 children)

lmao holy shit. i knew they were a jewish supremacist from other clues but that's so fucking on the nose

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 7 points 3 days ago

If you don’t pretend this person is oppressed you are literally adolf hitler

[–] 3rdWorldCommieCat@hexbear.net 15 points 5 days ago

The jokes write themselves lmao like deadass almost over 50 upvotes last I saw, mods bowed down to their ban request for the anti-zionist user and suppport in comments. This site, all of the lemmyverse cannot be saved unless all mods are purged and substituted with actual marxists and anti-imperealists. Which won't happen.

[–] 3rdWorldCommieCat@hexbear.net 13 points 5 days ago

Not to mention most people have upvoted this user's post and they also claimed to be against anti-german/italian/japanese sentiment in WW2 lmao a joke is what they all are.

[–] 3rdWorldCommieCat@hexbear.net 13 points 5 days ago (1 children)

My bad, I've seen some who are good however the one that was the best ended up with the commenter being banned for pointing out the truth lmao

[–] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 13 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I saw this thread when it was posted and was going to make a reply urging the OP to do self-crit, but when the mods are just banning and deleting, what's the point? All they're doing is reinforcing the zionism.

[–] 3rdWorldCommieCat@hexbear.net 11 points 4 days ago

They've locked the thread now too lmao fucking cowards

[–] CyborgMarx@hexbear.net 10 points 5 days ago

"Jews do not face systemic oppression" is a true statement, but that post just reeks of trivialization and white boy posturing, they can afford to play around with words, even when the topic demands seriousness

[–] 3rdWorldCommieCat@hexbear.net 13 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Regarding Brasil elections: so far only diasporas have finished, Lula wins in south korea, mainland china, new zealand, australia, malaysia and singapore, bozonaro wins in japan, taiwan, the phillipines, thailand and the uae and is leading in india, portugal closes the voting in 30 mins. Not surprised the us lapdogs in east asia all vote for fascism as usual. In the places Lula has won tho its been by a massive landslide esp in china where he has won in every city brazilians have voted in, first time in history

[–] 3rdWorldCommieCat@hexbear.net 9 points 4 days ago

"Abstention was highest in Faro, where 66.62% of registered voters did not vote, compared to 63.56% in Lisbon and 57.30% in Porto. In absolute numbers, 5,510 voters did not go to the polls in Faro, 49,964 in Lisbon, and 27,217 in Porto. Voter turnout was 33.38% in Faro, 36.44% in Lisbon, and 42.70% in Porto." Faro elected bozonaro, the other two Lula. Faro and the Algarve as a whole seem to be very fash as they also usually elect Chega (far-right portuguese party). We need to islamize Iberia again.

[–] 3rdWorldCommieCat@hexbear.net 9 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Brasil's consulate in lisbon is claiming out of all 79.000 registered voters only 31.000 showed up to vote apparently, damn. Registered to vote in lisbon that is, not all of portugal.

[–] 3rdWorldCommieCat@hexbear.net 7 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Lula has won in the city of porto in portugal.

[–] 3rdWorldCommieCat@hexbear.net 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Lula has also won in lisbon.

[–] 3rdWorldCommieCat@hexbear.net 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

https://resultados.tse.jus.br/oficial/app/index.html#/eleicao/6257/uf/br/cargo/1/vis/nominal/resultados bozonaro sadly is leading in Brasil so far, I'll let yall see for yourselves from now on unless another country finishes counting

[–] KohakuDidNothingWrong@hexbear.net 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)
[–] 3rdWorldCommieCat@hexbear.net 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Last few countings have Lula catching up and bozonaro falling again behind the 50%, we'll have to wait and see.

He’s gonna lose. Lula is gonna lose, I just know it

[–] Angel@hexbear.net 18 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Throat was still a little sore today, but I'm consuming some lime mixed with agave right now and that may help.

The neck improved tremendously... like, I'd say on a scale of 1 Kirks to 10 Kirks, that shit was hurting at about 7 Kirks yesterday, but today, I'd probably just put it at 1 Kirk. che-smile

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 12 points 5 days ago
